Is your SIL using her phil & ted for a toddler and newborn though?? the reviews I see are generally really good, but these people haven't bought the toddler seat yet. I tried it out in the store and didn't see how it would be practical until your new baby was able to sit up.

well, yeah - you CAN use it for a newborn. But only in that mode where the seat is flat and the todder is up front on top. So what happens when baby is 2 months and wants to be partially upright? You're stuck with your baby laying flat like that until they're 5 or 6 months - or whenever they can sit in that back seat.

Graco Duoglider: I have one of these and this thing is a bus. It is soo huge and difficult to steer. I drive an Expedition, and the thing took up most of the space in the back. I had a hard time steering this too, although my husband says it was easy for him. I DO NOT recommend.
Eddie Bauer tandem: Same as the Graco
Peg Perego Tandem XL: I love this stroller. It is soo much easier to steer. I can actually steer with just one hand. It looks nice ( I have the black sable pattern) and we get alot of compliments on it. It folds well, is lighter so that I can put it in the back of my SUV, and is big enough for both of my kids. It also has a height adjustable handle ( alas, I am slightly taller than my husband) which is a big plus for me. The canopies are great because they actually block out the sun, etc. And lastly, it can accomodate an infant car seat in either the front or the back. Strangely, at the baby store the workers kept telling us that it couldn't accomodate car seats but the website said differently and when we tried it, it did allow car seats. Now the drawbacks. No parent tray, cupholder, nothing. The storage is a joke. I have never been able to put anything in the "baskets" under the seats. It is NOT stadium seating so the person in front gets to see everything better than the one in back. The seat belts are 5 point harness but my kids (age 2/ 24lb. and age 1/21lb.) seem to outwit it every time they have it on. Oh, and the canopies must be removed before closing or the stroller won't close right. RECOMMENDED, BUT EXPENSIVE.
Eddie Bauer Tandem Motecito (the more compact tandem stroller): I saw this stroller in the store and tried it out. First off, it's ugly. Secondly, the stroller looks cheap, like it's going to fall apart. Now, I have boys and it needs to withstand their hyperactivity. I don't think this can do it. It's not as small as it looks online but it is smaller than the other three. My kids didn't like it so I am moving on.
Phil and Ted's E3 Sport: I love this stroller. I like how it is not as long as the other strollers, how it can accomodate infants and toddlers, and how stylish it is. It will accomodate a car seat with a separate car seat attachment, but if you have one toddler and one infant, this option is not pliable. Instead you have to lay your infant in the back (it's safe and looks really comfy) while your toddler is up front. Then when they grow, you get the separate seat for the second kid and your stroller still has not gotten any larger! You have to buy a separate thing for storage or dipaers, etc. When it is folded, it is kinda large but not too heavy. It seems durable enough and my kids love it, even for long trips around the zoo or the neighborhood. I though my older son wouldn't want to be in the back of it because you really can't see anything, but he loves it. I just have to watch that he doesn't stick his hands near the wheels. Of course, if you have two kids in this stroller, there won't be an storage so, like I said already, you got to purchase a separate pouch for that. I like the colors and the style. RECOMMENDED, BUT EXPENSIVE.
Valco Duo: Looks really neat. I wish I could have it but my baby's are getting big and I don't need to look for new tandem strollers. Plus, it is EXPENSIVE.
Combi Counterpart: This thing is huge! It is light and the mesh is supposed to be cooler for the kids ( I live in Hawaii, so that's really important). It's ugly, it doesn't steer well, and it seems just as long as the Graco. After seeing it, I didn't bother because it is not much of an improvement on what is already out there.
I have to say, I go out alot and the side by side stollers would not be practical for my family. Plus, my boys are wide so the side by side really squeezes them so that they are uncomfortable. The only exception is the jogging strollers. I have tried some of those and I have no complaints that I can thing of about them. Hope this kinda helped.
