Pregnancy Tea
posted 9th Nov '06
Was just curious if anyone has info on pregnancy tea, my hubby brought some home for me and I wasn't able to find much info on it. This is my second pregnancy and I didn't drink or even know of this tea the last time around. Any thoughts or info on this tea would be great! It does contain rasberry leaf...if that makes a difference and it says to drink like 3 times a day...even went to the site that was listed on the box and just couldn't figure out much. Any help would be awesome ladies!!!

I've never heard of pregnancy tea before.. But my friend is one of those people (I forgot what they're called!! but it starts with a B) that studies herbs and homeopathic rememdies and says that rasberry promotes elasticity in your skin to help prevent stretch marks and help with tearing during delivery.. She's always on my case about different things to drink... There's different things that will help you milk come in and ect.. I hope this helps a bit!

Rasberry tea is supposed to be great! My mom said it was practically a must in the 70's whil pregnant. It is supposed to prevent miscarriages, but even if it doesn't work there is nothing harmful in it. People have been using it for years!
And by the way.... what a sweet husband!! VERY IMPRESSED

Have been looking online and asking friends about the tea, supposedly you can drink it even prior to the pregnancy and after, it supposedly gives you a lot of extra nutrients and what not. My hubby got the tea from a grocery store and it was near the herbal teas, so worth looking into I guess. I am a little nervous about the rasberry leaf since someone posted that it may cause contractions, and I am way too early in the game for that to happen, so I still might wait and see what I find out. Thanks ladies!!!! Hope everyone is having a happy pregnancy!!! [/b]

I found this web site on what teas are good and what teas aren't.
http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/pregnancynutrition/3537.html,
here it says that raspberry leaf is not safe, though there is no real proof of this.
it is suggested that raspberry leaf should only be used late in the pregnancy.
Hope this helps.

I just wanted to thank everyone for responding and that link was so helpful and I think just to be on the safe side will keep the tea in the cupboard and try it when I am closer to my due date or even after the baby is here, silly I know, but I am a little freaked out. Glad this site is here to ask questions like this, and I appreciate everyone taking the time to respond. Thanks Ladies!!!!

You should not be drinking Green Tea, but if you can't do without it, one cup a day is okay.

i am sure the tea is no biggie
i mean it is like going into your garden cutting some herbs and boiling them...since they dont want you drinking caffeine i have been drinking the preg tea instead. for me it is just a way to satisfy the need for something warm in replace of caffeine tea. it does nothing to you...i usually drink it in the morn after my 1/2 caff 1/2 decaf cup of joe and sometimes at dinner. you dont HAVE to drink 3 cups a day...they just want you buying more of their 5.00 a box product. i also drink the nightime tea to help me go to bed easier and the digestion tea and also the destress tea. almost all baby sites i have been to say to drink herbal tea so if you drink ones made specifically for being pregnant i say you cant go wrong other than going broke
good luck..i know people are saying rasp sends you into labor but i have been drinking it for 6 months and i havent given birth yet. i think for raspberry to make a difference you would have to eat a ton of potent raspberry not the tiny bit they put into tea

i used to drink rasberry tea when i was in late pregancy. i drank like 10 cups of it one day and went into labour that night! it can only be drank from 37 weeks onwards as it thins out you uterus and helps speed up labour. it worked!

Rasberry tea would be more potent than just rasberry. Brewing your own tea from herbs in your garden is better than the store bought stuff, because with a lot of them put more herbs in to make the tea brew better.
