Want Mirena out...But no insurance.

posted 22nd Mar
I've had Mirena for almost 6 months now and I hate it.After I gave birth to my daughter in July I lost a ton of weight and now almost 8 months later ive gained it all back and some,I believe due to Mirena.Besides weight gain I have severe abdominal pain,my periods are weird which i expected and my face is breaking out like crazy.I want it out.The only problem is I have no insurance and I was wondering if I went to the emergency due to the abdominal pain, would they be able to do anything.

Maybe you can qualify for state medical assistance.

Are you trying to TTC again, or is it just for those reasons, and you'll go on another type of BC?

I was gonna say "can't you just pull it out" but that just sounds painful. I'm sure if you made an appointment with an OB it would be cheaper then going to the ER.

Oh no I'm not TTC again its just for those reasons. And I don't want another type of birth control,I'm trying celibacy, so I don't really need it.

If you're trying celibacy, I'd still recommend you get on some form of BC. Not because I think you're gonna run around having sex, but that way if you do end up meeting someone, you're already on BC and don't need to worry about it then.

I thought about pulling it out because I'm really desperate at this point, but it could perforate and thats the last thing I need.

It would cost a lot more for you to go to the ER than for you to go to an actual doctor and have them reomove it.
And like others have said, maybe you can qualify for medicaid

Oh. Because I was thinking "Who would TTC with no insurance?"

I'd say talk to an OB/GYN and ask if there are any programs you can go on. If you are breastfeeding I know that there is a health insurance you'd qualify for, if your income was low enough. Because you have to be healthy in order for the baby to be healthy.

They do? I thought they just pulled on the string thing and pulled it out.   I'm so glad I'll never have an IUD.

I had mine taken out after having it for only a month, so the place I got to put it in refused to take it out so soon. I had to just go to another obgyn and pay out of pocket. I just threw it on the credit card cuz I despised the thing. It cost about 80 bucks... I hated spending that much just to pull on a stupid string, but it was worth it to me. I was very relieved afterwards.
