ok dumb question, but what's the deal with the cord burning. Is that instead of cutting it or for ceremonial purposes or what?

Just curious and it might sound dumb. Is it possible at a hospital to request my fiancée be the first to hold our little one as she comes out? Like actually grab her and guide her?

like catch her?
Its depends on the hospital.
Though the little ones can benefit greatly from at least an hour of skin to skin with mom. It helps regulate their body temperature and is super important for their transition.

Yes! I didn't know how to say it without sounding like she's a football but you did it for me and I'm okay with that LOL :p ill have to find out how this hospital is. I'm sure he would like that.(: I'd like it better too.

(: that's awesome! See, I just figured if your birthing at a hospital they have to do it all and they wouldn't allow it. Which is kind of dumb but I just figured whatever is gunna get her here safely. But, I'm glad I asked.(: ill definitely talk to my OB and see what she says and emphasize I really prefer it and such.(: thank you!

I have heard of people being allowed to at hospitals. And others not

I'm having a home birth too!   But it will be my first, and my first vaginal birth too, so I'm kind of nervous of what to expect...!

a lot of pain. LOL look for ways to minimize pain online naturally. its a lot of hard work. you are pushed way past the limits you thought you had. you find you are a lot stronger than you thought. it is such a experience. its different for everyone, but i can say once everything is done and over, you are so proud of yourself, its a great feeling. good luck!

I recommend birthing from within. :-)
Find some crafts to do while you're in labor - make a gift for baby, make something for yourself, if you have an older kid that will be there, make sure you have someone to keep him/her entertained. Have someone in the kitchen making food for people and keeping everyone watered.

I really wanted to do birth crafts but didn't have any time (30 minute labor.) Enjoy being home. :-)

Thanks for the advice guys   I was thinking I'd probably just settle into a good book to help distract me, lol! I just plan on changing positions, going in the bath/shower, having DH massage me.. whatever seemed to help the 1st time I labored.. Just didn't make it all the way last time! I'm hoping after being on pitocin contractions with no pain meds, then regular ones will be more manageable.. especially since I'll be able to move around & eat/drink to keep up my strength!! I don't plan on having a lot of people here.. Just DH, my SIL to watch DS, and the midwives.. Just got my fridge & cupboards all stocked too. Was thinking of asking my SIL to make her famous ham to be ready for after baby is born, lol.. I've been craving ham ;)

Oh, pitocin makes things WAY worse. In active labor you can at least breathe and feel alright and get comfy in between contractions. :-) books might be hard to focus on. But definitely find something somewhere comfortable :-)

Awesome news, lol! I just meant the book for earlier labor. Maybe I'll work on some flower hair clips for DD   I'll probably just want to focus on breathing in active labor.. I'm really looking forward to not being forced or pressured into anything during labor this time! Last time, I felt absolutely great until they put me on pitocin
