You can do anything you set your mind to. Don't let others cloud what you want to do.

I was told that. One friend literally laughed in my face and said "yeah I thought I was tough too".

Now I've done it twice.   Once with a 10.5 lb baby whose head was cockeyed and had his hand on his head.
I had the last laugh.

Giving birth is one of the most natural things... Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If anyone tries to discourage you or just gives you a look of disbelief that you would be able to do such a thing... Use it as motivation to carry out what you intended to do. It will empower you once you have conquered it! And after birth - this applies with nursing your baby too!

I never thought I could give birth naturally, I planned on getting an epidural but after the nurse checking my dialation wrong I ended up giving birth to a baby boy all natural weighing 8lbs 9ozs and was PROUD of myself for that! (:

my family is the same way. They try to remind me that my mother wanted no pain meds but ended up using them anyway or telling me of someone they knew that had a terrible natural birth. Completely unsupportive of my birth center plan. It's like they don't realize no matter how many times I tell them that I've done my research and know exactly what I'm getting myself into. You just have to keep your head up and tell them, "think what you want, but this is what I want, and it's MY birth, and I'm doing it MY way." :]

I'm really hoping to be able to give birth without an epidural...I'm having our son in the hospital and I want to be able to walk around if I feel the need to and I'm just hoping I can handle the "pain" of labor...I need to hear some thoughts...do you think hospitals will let you walk around or sit up while giving birth...or how can i handle it without am epidural? Everyone keeps trying to tell me to get one and it makes me mad/upset because I feel no one should be telling me what I should and shouldn't do...and makes me feel like people think you can't handle it...it's so frustrating! I need advice and support from those who have been there because if our bodies are meant to have babies then shouldn't we be meant to handle the pain as well?!

Your body is made to do a natural birth.
I stayed at home until I was nine centimeters dialated and then when to the hospital, walked up two flights of stairs and then across the rest of the hospital. I gave birth to my baby and the placenta completely naturally and it was nothing, you barely even remember afterwards. I had complications after I gave birth and so I had no choice but to get medications to numb my lower half because I bled for two hours afterwards. I refused medications for a long time, but honestly if anyone else had to go through what I did I would tell them to take the medication, It doesn't affect your baby at all and it is really important, trust me you do not want a doctor having to reach all the way inside of you and pull out blood clots, even with all the medication it still really hurt even more than the birth.
If you do a natural birth then be really proud of yourself, its an amazing feeling.

Also , I did my birth on my hands and knees, pushing backwards and down with each push, I found it made it a lot better because I found it the most comfortable and the moment helped my boy move his head through my hips.
If you believe you can do it and stay perfectly calm then it's easy. I'm 16 and I did it, you can too (:

Since Wednesday my water has had a small leak and no labor contractions with it. Yikes! >.< sticking it out until I get a fever (if I get one.). I'm getting nervous. My midwife hasn't set a timer for me though, thank god! Hoping, hoping, hoping for a home birth. Hopefully my chances aren't being squashed. :-(

you could also start taking antibiotics as a precaution if you like. I leaked for ten weeks in my first pregnancy and took antibiotics to prevent infection since we were trying to get me to stay pregnant longer, I know that's not the case here but you could still use them as a precaution to in order to avoid an induction.

I'll probably opt out of antibiotics. I'm GBS negative and antibiotics seem to mess with me and give me yeast infections. :-\ Right now my MW doesn't seem worried about inducing me which is good.

For the future, try taking probiotics alongside the antibiotics if you ever do need to take them. I was only suggesting the antibiotics as an option in case it eventaully came down to you being told that need to induce, then with antibiotics you can prevent infection from broken water and justify reason to not be induced if that was a concern for you.

I wanted an all natural birth and people told me I couldn't do it and that 3 hrs in I'd be screaming for an epidural. I was in labor for 28hrs all natural, no pain meds or anything but am sad to say I ended up having an emergancy c-section. I'm very proud of myself for atleast trying it though and just want to add that it really wasn't as bad as people said. I think it's a wonderfully ideal for mommy's to try it all natural instead of jumping into epidurals and pain meds.
