re: Natural Birth Support Thread!

So I am going to my FIL's this weekend and he is terribly against the home birth we have planned, he hasn't spoken to us directly about it yet, but he's been going around telling other members of hubby's family that it is irresponsible and that he is "not happy" over the choice...etc.

That really upsets me.

I also really don't want to have to explain our choice to him, I feel like that I shouldn't have to defend myself but Kyle really wants me to explain why we have chosen it, but I don't think I can without coming off bitchy.

Ugh I don't know what to do.

idk what you should do. I'm thinking about not telling my family until AFTER the baby is born hahaa.

And about the birth, I didn't want Kyle's dad to even know we were having a home birth but kyle told him. We aren't tell people that I'm in labor, just having the baby and then calling, but I'm still so stressed about his dad even knowing. I can FEEL his bad vibes and I want them to go away! lol

heh yeah getting rid of the bad vibe would be good. idk how though. I guess just respectfully tell him that you feel this is the best choice for your family and talk about how it's NOT as dangerous as people are led to believe.

Kyle wants me to print out information for him about how it's not dangerous etc....but I just don't want to. I feel like I shouldn't have to do that.

It's really not his place to be judging.

yeah. I think if he's the one who told him and he's the one who wants to print stuff off for him, he should do it. You shouldn't have to.

I'm not sure how we'll handle letting my parents know. A part of me wants to just not tell them anything until AFTER baby is here...

I want to tell my inlaws that I'm pregnant, but my parents don't like us telling my siblings until 12 weeks. I kind of want to tell my parents and sibs at the same time. but I don't want to tell my inlaws then in 8 weeks tell my parents. But I want to tell my inlaws haha. oh what to do

10, 14, 16, 21. I told the 21 year old and the 16 year old right away with Lydia. My parents didn't want me to tell the boys until I was 12 weeks. Partly due to risk of miscarriage, mostly because we weren't married. but they told them on the way to our house so there was NO fun in announcing it (plus I was 21 at the time and was afraid to tell them I was pregnant before married) this time we were trying and are so excited (we were so excited but KNEW they wouldn't be). idk I don't think my family will be overly thrilled because they think we should wait till we have more $$

maybe put together a sheet of paper w/ statistics and facts about home births and when he starts up, just hand it to him and say, "read this" then tell me i'm irresponsible.

what's irresponsible is trusting that american doctors even know what they're doing when it comes to a women in labor.
