Oooh right, that's a good idea. They would probably know, as they'd probably have to refer women there from time to time.

Check your phone book, actually. Or call your local Department of Health & Family Services, and they'll point you in the right direction. Most large counties have one.

I found the womans shelter  I have to schedule an appointment becasue of security reasons but they said they were in greta need of many things  I have evrything from a carseat to womans clothes...hair dye, bathroom things, makeup and toys. I have like 5 bags of stuff to bring to them and i am feeling so good.

that's awesome! I'm sure they're going to appreciate it! It's the little things that count! If they can't take it, check with your local Salvation Army, too!

they are actually anxious for me to bring the stuff...they have alot of kids and babies there now and they need stuff. I have hangups about Salvation Army, thats why I dug around ot find this shelter...i wanted to be sure the stuff would go to those in need.

That's so sad, I'm glad that there are people around who are willing to help, but I wish that the ladies weren't forced to go into shelters with their children to get away from abusive SO's, etc.

Yeah, I understand ya about the Salv. Army. We usually give our extra stuff to either random family members (I have a HUGE family), or we give it to The Purple Heart Foundation. They drive around 3-4 times a year picking up stuff people put out. We just donated about... three, maybe 4 bags of clothes to them last week.

this organization helps these woman get setup in apartments, so they leterally need everything. I love helping people so much, I wish I was rich because theres so much I would do

that's great! The one here does pretty much the same thing, I think. I would go broke if I were rich. I'd donate 3/4's of it to animal shelters and womens centers, heh.

McLeary, that's awesome you got a hold of the shelter, and you've got an appointment. I would much rather take stuff there then to the Salvation Army... I don't hate the salvation army or anything, but a women's shelter could use it more.

yea, they were really happy I thought of them...since they don't advertise that they need donations. I had to call the sherif and leave my number, then they had the shelter contact me. Its a 40 minute ride to go there but its worth it. Besides its a scenic drive  I knew this nasty crackhead guy that worked with me years ago and part time he drove the truck for the salvation army, he would rummage through all the stuff and take the good name brand things and sell them. And its not just him, its a common thing. Its not salvation Army's fault, they hire people out of rehab and stuff or they have to help for communtiy service...its sad
