So on the subject of donations, I was just wondering if anyone has heard from January, aka Tattooed Mama?
How is she doing....?
Has she been around lately?

i really love all my bg friends...my husband had lost his job and we had a new baby coming...my friends sent me clothes for the baby and another sweet friend sent us some soup and oatmeal and things for the girls....it warmed my heart that they cared so much about me and my family and we had never even met in real life...besides helping me with the clothes and food they have stood by me and listened while i was upset and/or frustrated...bg is a wonderful place full of guardian angels!! most of which i am proud to call my friends!

That's really great! I'm glad they were able to help you out, with things you most definately needed.  
BG friends are pretty friggin awesome.  

I am currently in a situation where outside help has been needed. My Daughter and I were brought to Albuquerque NM whenI was 22 5/7 weeks pregnant.Albuquerque is 4 hours from home and it feels like a million miles. She was born at 25 3/7 weeks and we will be here until midJune. If I did not have the Ronald McDonald House Charities for Lodging and dinner accomodations I would be completely lost. It is still very hard to be away from family with no money or transportation....but at least I have a roof over my head.

I would like for everyone to consider donating to your nearest Ronald McDonald House Charities.....They really do so much, with so little.  

My husband and I have a yard/garage sale every year. We donate the proceeds (and whatever else is left that is usable) to the local women's shelter and the teen run-away program.

Once upon a time I was a young, single mom in a bad relationship. Someone saved us and all she asked is that I do whatever I can to help others. I have been ever since.

The other thing we do is, my daughter LOVES to draw and stuff. I load her up with crafts and let her make cards and pictures for some of the women at my grandmother's old hospice center. Some of those people don't have ANY family or their family just doesn't care. We gave away 212 cards and pictures last year!! She gets excited when she gets to hand them out

I can't think of it off the top of my head, but my stylist told me that I should check in with the local area because there are places that do it for others, and not just kids either. Dammit, I can't think of the name, but you guys should check around and see if there are any local programs *cancer centers* that take hair donations as well. They often struggle more and I've heard that Locks of Love has a LONG waiting list.

almost every town or county has a domestic violence program program or shelter, and these programs are always in need in food, diapers, clothing, hygiene products,or just your time. i work at a shelter in Kansas and know how important it is to donatoe what you can to give women and children Hope for a peacefulfuture.

Pshhhh...check this shit out. I was just coming to post it here! I believed every word she said and was one of the first to donate money towards her surgery. She posted another topic tonight about her husband, so I looked at her topics to see if I had missed any of the saga (I'd left BG for a while) and I saw this.

Yeesh.
A big reason why I made this thread was because of her. Trying to get people to hopefully think a bit more before they donate..... y'know?
But... Geeze. That's shitty.

Great post! I am going ot try and locate a battered womans shelter near me. I have a carseat, stroller, cloths (womans and baby) and bottles. I have sold plenty of things but I really want to help my community too.....and alot of those woman leave with thier kids and have nothing but the clothes on their backs.

if anyone knows of a battered womans organization please let me know...I havent been able to find anything yet.

I'm sure it'll be much different then here, so I'm not really sure I could help you find out.... But it's a really great idea! What about the YMCA? They might be able to point you in the right direction? I know there is a homeless shelter here run by them...

yea I think monday Ill call my OB's office and ask them...they always have these posters up about abuse...maybe they will know
