re: Your Gallbladder! [Know more.]

posted 4th Sep '09
Why don't they check it when you go for ultrasounds and such since it's so likely to occur in pregnancy? I just had mine removed on Tuesday and i'm so happy i'm not the only one! I felt like dying, my labor wasn't even that bad! They said my gall bladder and liver were almost infused into one... does the pain in your belly button ever go away?

Some docs just over look it.

And yes it does!

Mine started when I was about 5 months pregnant. I thought it was something wrong with the baby so my husband rushed me to the ER. The moron doctor told me it was a "vomiting sickness" (WTF) and sent me home. I had to go back to the ER like 5 times before they finally decided to check for it and told me they hadn't thought of it because it usually happens in women who are fat or over 40.

Anyway I had to wait til a couple months after I had my son before they would remove it...worst 6 months of my life. I swear I'd rather go through labor again than that!

During my first pregnancy i had bad " heart Burn " and was prescribed Pantaloc for the whole 9 months. 2 months after i had my son i had some "gas Like cramps" a few hours later that night i had Sharp pains i honestly thought i was having a heart attack or something was killing me inside out. I got undressed and ran a hot bath to try and sooth the cramp like pains that were so bad i couldnt speak or breath. I had to move constantly going from fetal to sprawled out on my floor because i couldnt take the pain what so ever. I told my husband to Get my son and bring him to me and then call the Ambulance because i really thought it was the end. The ambulance then came about 30 min later checked my heart rate it was high but because of the stress. they didnt understand what the problem was so they rushed me to the hospital. Long story short 4 !!!! episodes like this later and being told it was INDEGESTION !!!!!! they seen i had liver AND kidney stones...... So i was schedualed to get the stones removed... then shortly after ANOTHER episode.... THey then decide to remove my gullbladder... ONE MONTH TO THE DAY !!! after the operation i had another Episode. since then i have been numurous times and they still have no clue BUT prescribed Morphine pills to take at the begining of an episode. Now pregnant with my second child im scared to have an episode and i cant take anything at all . I just dont know what to do or what to expect anymore. I dont want to have to be in pain for something they havnt figureed out yet... Anyone in a similar situation ?

I am so thankful then that I have had mine taken out. I had Gallbladder attacks that were crippling, but didn't last long enough to get to an ER. By the time we were half way there I was perfectly fine again. I went to a doc and he told me I had stones, plus my Gallbladder was sort of rotting. Gross, I know. I had surgery for it to be removed and I have felt fine since. Knowing it would possiblyaggravateit during pregnancy.. I don't know if I could deal with more pain then it already put me through.

Same here Mama! My hubby called 911 for me because it was so bad. We also were on our way a couple times to the ER and it stopped too. Worst pain ever!

i had my gallbladder removed in june of 06 it was the best releif ever....i beeen have attacks for about a year and a half the last two months of that year and a half it was everynight i was woken up with the attack and could not sleep ....it started when i was pregnant with my daughter and all i was able to eat at the end of my pregnancy was plain popcorn ...i found that was the only food that did not give me a bad attack .....when i went in to the hospital one night as the attack was really bad they gave me an emergancy operation as i had close to 100 stones in my gallbladder and what they called mudd that was forming more.....the operation i did not find was hard ...but the recovery was brutal ...cause when i went into the hospital i did have a cold but they wanted to go ahead with the surgery as it was serious ....anyway when i would up from being up under....i starting couching as i had a cold and i never felt so much pain in my stomach in my life that is the only part taht hurt ...everytime i had to couch i would start to cry know ing what pain was to come....but i found it help i would have a pillow with me at all times and it i had to couch i would hold the ppilllow so tight to my stomach that it would not hurt to couch .....anyhow i am now six months pregnant ...and this is the first pregnancy since i do nothave a gallbladder ( they took the whole thing out not just the stones ) and i am worried that i might have complications...i have never had any pain since the operation never had any attacks i think cause they did take it all out ....but worried that i need that part for some part of pregnancy ..

sorry about the long long story just wanted to share my story ...
good luck to all you labies
and like i said in my story ...
the operation is not that bad at all well for me it wasnt but everyone is different so good luck to all ...

Mine started about 10 days after giving birth. The attacks became more frequent and severe. Breastfeeding during an attack, not fun. I had mine removed in March 09 when my baby was 8 weeks. I say see the doctor and get it removed! You will be relieved.

My pain was on my left so when I suggested gallbladder to my doctor he laughed and sent me to have a ultrasound done of my organs to "ease my mind" he thought it was gas.

I had to have my gallbladder removed just 2 months after I had my last baby (he is now 3). It was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. I didn't see it coming and I never had any problems and then BAM it hit me. It was 10 times worse then non medicated birth. I had gallstones, a lot of them and within 1 week of having my first doctor appt. I was in the hospital having my gallbladder removed. I was so scared and so sick after I got it taken out. That is a nightmare time I never want to remember and on top of it all I couldn't even enjoy my new 8 week old baby
