Baby's butt blistered

posted 14th Mar
So, a few things have occured at the same time leaving me unsure what caused this terrible rash on my daughter's (7 mos.) bottom. It's mostly around the anus, and it's very red with whitish "blisters". It has a texture, but she doesn't cry when I touch it. I've been putting butt paste on it. Here's what happened:
-She didn't poop for 2 days, then pooped the dryest hardest ball of poop I've ever seen. After that she didn't poop for three days and finally began pooping---but went 4 times in one day and strained really hard. I'm thinking it could be from frequent pooping and straining.
-We gave her Karo syrup for the constipation---per doctor's orders.
-We gave her prune/apple juice mixed with water (first time).
-I started her on carrots around this time.
-I gave her prunes (first time).

Anyone have any experience with this?

We didn't get her SSN to the medical card place in time, so we have to reapply. The office isn't open until Monday. If it's not getting better by then I'm taking her regardless of ability to pay for it. It worries me.

Are the white spots protruding, or more flat?

My son gets terrible rashes like this immediately after he poops. He had one with the white spots once that wouldn't go away, so we took him to the doc and they tested him for herpes  . It was scary, but ended up being some kind of bacterial infection or something.

my son had the same rash on his butt. He was put on an antibiotic ointment called muprocin 4 times a day and it cleared within a few days. So, I'd say its time to call your childs pediatrician.

you can go to the doc and file with the insurance, if all else fails you can apply for payment assistance thru the doctors office...a number to apply would show up on the bill

We aleady owe them $300 because we had trouble getting her medical card and it didn't cover her first couple of visits.   But they can't turn down a baby and if they do I'll go somewhere else. I'm hoping that like one of you said it'll go back three months even though I'm reapplying.

i'd definitely call the pedi!! it could be the new food, or could be anything and they'll know what kind of cream it'll take or do tests to see what it is.

Yeah ya know when they're that young they always have irregular bowel movements like that - I wouldn't worry about it - if Doctor doesn't think it's anything serious - and you keep puttin the butt paste on and try giving her some Pedialyte so she stays hydrated.....
if the karo syrup doesn't work then try buying some baby supposities... you can find em in the baby isles..... you just stick em in baby butt a little and squeeze the stuff in... definitely works....
also ask doctor if your baby is allowed to have the "Yo baby yogurt" yet... it's specifically meant for babies.... just thinkin about all the active cultures in yogurt.... it should help with the digestive tract... hope I helped

She's pooping just fine now---it's the rash I'm worried about.
