Jumping on the Bed...big deal to you or not?

posted 3rd Mar
I babysit and one problem I have over and over again is kids jumping on beds. They don't care what I say; if I'm not looking, and a bed is around, they're jumping.

I just had the 4 year old boy that I keep sit in time out for five minutes for the billionth time for jumping on the bed.

Should I give up and laugh about it?

Hell, I jumped on the bed when I was a kid, and I'm still around.

Or should I continue to get peeved over it?

Damned kids...lol

My husband says ABSOLUTLEY not! But if he's not around, I let them do it. I don't know about if I were watching someone elses kid though cause I wouldn't want them to get injured while in my care.

how do the parents feel about it?? just keep in mind that if they fall off and get hurt you're going to be blamed for it.

I would tell them they're parents that they do and see what they say. If they're parents don't care, and you don't care, I'd let them. And if they fall of and hit their heads on something, after you make sure they're ok, you can tell them that's what happens when they jump on the bed! They might stop on their own then. Or not... Cuz kids can take some pretty hard falls and get back up and do it again, lol.

I think its a no-no for beds on bed frames. The bed can break from the jumping (me and my brothers broke so many beds when we were younger). That and if the bed is to high theres a chance they can fall and hurt themselves. Maybe you could find someone giving a bed away on craigslist or something and leave the mattress on the floor and let them jump on that. Thats what my mom did after we broke the like 8th bed. Instead of throwing my brothers twin mattress out after we broke it she kept it in the spare closet and when ever we wanted to jump we used that.

My step-daughter is always jumping on the bed. I really don't care, but I'm always with her in the room when she's doing it and I always tell her to be careful...like it says on the poll...kids will be kids =)

I say that since the 4 year old is NOT your child, you probably shouldn't let them do it. Especially if their parents don't let them.

I think it isn't a good thing to let the children you watch do it because your children may think it is okay...

Not to mention if you get more than one child or even one child to jump just the right way it could possibly break the bed... then what?

Meh, I'm not that strict but I prefer not having the bed jumped on. Breaks the bed and the kid lmao.

For your case though, I would keep at it for more of the purpose of "I'm in charge, you better listen" rather than whether jumping on the bed is ok or not.

My only problem with it is the bed frame, TBH. I'd be afraid of that breaking. Haha. Other than that, I really see no problem with it.

Well, I guess that's the bigger issue here. Most of the kids I watch do NOT listen. At all. The parents seem to think I should beat their children, lol. (I say lol but I'm not actually laughing because they're serious.) I'm not into beating my own children, let alone someone else's. I think kids should be able to behave reasonably when in someone else's care without being beat, but that's just me.

But I'm moving soon and won't be dealing with this muchlonger, so I don't really care.
