stroller for mild off roading

posted 28th Feb '06
Hello. I am a first time mom who is completely overwhelmed by her first stroller purchase. This is also my first ever forum post. I am trying to figure out which stroller would be best for walking around a nearby trail. It really isn't "off road" e.g. the dirt is fairly compacted and there is not much gravel. But it can be pretty uneven so it isn't comparable to a sidewalk either. I really would prefer to avoid a HUGE three wheel stroller because our cars have small trunks. But am afraid or first choice the Zippy (2005) couldn't handle several walks per week around the trail. We have also considered the 2005 Bubleride Flyer since it seems to have large wheels but it takes up our entire trunk. Also our budget probably tops out at$250. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

well, finding something with big wheels and not taking an entire trunk is a tall order. Is it a problem to have the entire trunk used? I usually only try to worry about it NOT fitting into the trunk....

Hmmm.... a candidate is the BabyJogger City Jogger as it folds in half, but it's $350, but you might be able to find it for less on ebay.

I know when my son was little I had the BabyJogger Zipper and that was small and easy to use, but that was 9 years ago. This time I have a station wagon, so space isn't an issue usually.

Thanks for the quick reply Melissa. You are right about it using the entire trunk. It's more a matter of having to contort myself and the stroller to fit it in the trunk. I'll check out the BabyJoggers.

The fold of the BJCS is much smaller than most, so it should be better... I wasn't sure of the Bumbleride rocket''s fold, but I see this one folds in half too. I LOVE the colors of the strollers, but I'm always a little hesitant to buy a new make of stroller as their defects/imperfections haven't been discovered yet. I wish there were a couple years before I needed one! But with babies, you can't wait that couple years! LOL
