Photo Challenge #1 Drop Off

Photo Challenge Number 1

Ready, Set...FOCUS!

Let's focus on those eyes. This challenge is all about good head shots- with emphasis on great focus on those eyes. For great head shots with great eye focus- concentrate on chest area and above- focusing the lens on the eyes. Great eye focus is harder to achieve if you try to get background plus someone's whole body. We will not always photograph people. =0) Some challenges will have nothing to do with people.Animals also can be photographed for this challenge- anything with eyes-preferably something living though! LOLBut feel free to think outside the box! This is suppose to be fun!

Beginners- 1st Part-Focus on those eyes.
Take TOO MANY shots of peoples faces with focus points being the eyes. We want nice clean face shots with crystal clear eyes. Don't just settle for one good shot. Shoot different people/animals if you have to and fill those memory cards up. Take note what you are doing with your camera AS you compose these shots. Please share at least 3 different shots of 3 different people/animals and their eyes (your kids, other ppls kids, your own whoever!). Don't take just 3 shots -take more than 50 or even 100 or even more- really work it- but give us the 3 best face shots with in focus eyes that you have taken during this challenge! If you have to dig up some info online about point and shoots and tips n tricks- do it! If you need help- give us a shout! You want to learn to be consistent with great focus on faces for great pictures of people/animals- even if your thang is not people portraiture- it's good practice.
**tip for point and shooters- if the sun is glaring overhead or behind you- try to get your subject into the shade or at best- useyour your flash to fill in shadows that fall under the eyes and nose(yes during the day!)

2nd part- Pic ONE of those 3 and edit it any way you like and show it off to us!

Intermediate/Professional- Tell a story with those eyes.

Part 1- Also show us 3 of your best face shots with perfect eye focus. But play around with aperture. See how wide you can open that lens and still get perfectly sharp eyes and good or amazing bokeh. If you struggle with indoor lighting- work on it with this challenge. If your struggle is natural lighting- work on it with this challenge. If you use a speedlight or other special lighting let us know when you share! Oh did I mention...use Manual mode (aka you set the shutter speed and aperture and white balance etc) on your camera. *wink* If you already do this - this challenge might be cake for you- but dazzle us anyway! If not- challenge yourself!

2nd Part- After sharing your top 3 from this challenge please select 1and edit it any way you like (be as creative as you wish) and show it off! Please include technical info regarding lens type and aperture.

~this is for personal growth. if your photos do not look as dazzling as another person's- don't feel bad. only feel bad if you did not try hard or challenge yourself. if YOU learned something new, mastered some new skill (be it small or large), or were inspired in some way- this challenge was a success for you! THAT is why we do this!

~there is no time limit on these challenges. any one can join with any camera at any time. you do not need to complete challenge #1 to do #3.

Those are great shots! The challenge is actually something you need to do FOR the challenge. All new pics just for this challenge.   You have incredible brown eyes, by the way!

do we critique each other?
and also one more question what specifically are you wanting?
the same kind of pics i took but just ones i took specifically for this challenge? like have it in mind when i take the pics?

Oh and i forgot to add     thank you for the compliment on my eyes   thats so sweet 

I had a boyfriend in 8th grade once that told me my eyes looked like mud, when i asked him to tell me something nice  lol

Yes like homework. =0D No we do not critique UNLESS the person asks. And yes the same type of pics...but you may do people, animals, reptiles, bugs...shoot if you feel inspired to snap a pic of your neighbors gnome's face- LOL- go for it!

Brown eyes are underrated and absolutely gorgeous! I have flat greenish brownish eyes- vivid brown eyes are amazing to look at! Compelling is the word I would use.

so is this going to be going on for awhile? cuz i am going to the zoo and i'd like to work some things out there

It's open indefinitely! Even when the next one opens- people can still come back and do this one.  

Do you have a deadline of when we need to have our pictures up?

I'll answer this, because I'm pretty sure we're doing this like we do for our Photoshop thread.

There is no deadline. It's simply a do it as you have time or inspiration, and post the pics whenever you feel comfortable doing so.
