focal length 50mm
Exposure time 1/160sec
ISO 400
Metering mode: pattern


My daughters picture:
shutter speed 1/128sec
lens aperature f/2.5
focal length 50mm
exposure time 1/125sec
ISO 400
Metering mode: pattern

  I love you! Did you know it will tell you all of that for a p&s too?! So I will be able to mimic those settings when I finally get a DSLR (which will hopefully be soon!!!).

For the picture of my leaf, these were the settings (if you're interested   ):
F-stop: f/4.8
Exposure time: 1/54 sec
ISO: 100
Exposure: -0.5 step
Focal length: 18mm
Max aperture: 4.52
Metering mode: Spot

Your very welcome ladies. Basically there are 3 settings you need to know when posting info, the rest are kinda extra for you.

It is necessary but mainly for you, and you can answer questions about your pictures if asked. But for simplicity reasons most of the time just the 3 things are needed.

I love your pictures they came out so good!!! your kids are adorable. i know a girl who actually just got that camera and her pictures look awful i think its because she doesnt know how to use all its functions like you do... I'm sure once she learns they will come out great

the only one I know what it actually is on my camera is the ISO speed

What camera do you have? It takes time to learn all this. I started out with a P&S years ago and learned the art of editing then I got my DSLR almost 3 years ago. I've spent alot of time learning everything I can. So patience is the key along with questions. IMHO a stupid question is only stupid if you never ask.

so what is the f number?What controls it? I am trying to mess with my camera and see... but the batteries are dieing

What camera? it depends on the camera.

ive wondered this to i know how to change it but i dont know what the purpose of it is.

I have a Canon SX110 is its not a big fancy camera is a P&S

The f/stop regulates how much light is allowed through the lens by varying the area of the hole the light comes through.
