Thanks!! Somehow we manage to have no plain white plates in our house, lol. They all have distracting designs.
For the cupcake on the left I think I'll try to crop it out! You're right now that you mention it, it is very distracting I don't know how I missed it. Guess that's part of learning, lol.

YES!! i found my shutter release count!
i have released my shutter 4,081 times (bought it in feb 09)
i have fired my flash 2,116 times
i believe it was built in oct of 08...anyways...there is a buttload of useless info in there...
wanna know how i got to it? lol
turn the camera on, open the memory card door, press menu + ok at the same time, then using the arrow pad press up down left right, then press the shutter button, then press up.
its like a secret olympus code, lol then you can go thru diff pages of info...pretty nifty i guess.

oh and just to add...there are some other olympus E system users i'm acquainted with thru flickr...their shutter counts are anywhere from 67k to 107k   

ALSO...there is a camera code to access ISO settings that are otherwise unachievable, such as ISO 50 and ISO 3200, lol

I think you did a great job, but I echo the other ladies with the pootie ones. I mean they are cute, dont get me wrong, just I prefer the professional look of the others. Great job though.

Great 1st post so far. I have several blogs, its so hard for me to keep up with them all. I have a personal one, a P90x one, a 365 project one, the one on my myspace and then this site is like a blog lol....I cant keep up. Since I dont have people who really talk to me in the blog scene, this is where I usually end up.

Ladies, I tried my hands at fireworks tonight and they didnt turn out too bad. My first time shooting in 100% manual mode too. Here is the link to the thread I posted them in.

your firework pics look good   still havent uploaded mine, but i'm not too impressed w anything i got. i was in the worst spot and it wasnt totally dark at the beginning.
i'm from eastern idaho where they have the biggest fireworks display west of the mississippi, but we moved to SE Idaho, and they were so pathetic. i seriously almost cried, made me so homesick  

okay, my fireworks dont compair to the ones above. We did ground ones here at my house and in california they are just not that awesome... not a whole lot of colors. But I had fun trying and playing with my camera, that is the point really right?

Nice fireworks pics ladies. Kim those are so cool even if they are at home ones. Melissa I love all the colors you got in your pictures.

I took some firework pics last night but I'm not too impressed. I'll post a few later. I would have liked to have a wide angle lens last night so that I could have gotten some of the surroundings instead of just frames of fireworks. They were framed a lot like yours Melissa except yours turned out way better than mine.  

Wow guys thanks for giving me my fireworks fix! We have too many little kids to go see them still. So we missed them. Next year though!

here are my firework shots...lame show, we chose a bad vantage point...not dark enough...overall, a crap holiday.
these have all been cropped, because my shots were taken in between two light posts. also, on several i adjusted color curves to darken the sky, because as you can see...it wasn't dark and i also cloned out the lamp post in a few, because it was right in the middle of the firework.
also, the one with obvious camera movement, well...i just like it..it looks kinda whimsical to me...like a waving wand of fire or something.........

I kinda like being able to see the sky in the background, especially in that third one.

I like all the firework shots.. makes me want to plan a trip to where the biggins are next year.

I just bought an adapter, two filters, cap and a scott kilby book off amazon. I spent extra money on the tiffen filters, I really wanted to get a polarizer filter for my ocean trip this month. My eyes are killing me from reading reviews and trying to figure out the best way to buy this stuff.. I hope I got it right... in any case it has satisfied my camera spending urge a tad
