re: Anyone out there have a Zooper Twist?
posted 11th Sep '08
I've been searching high and low since July for the 2008 Zooper Twist. I'd ordered it online and was repeatedly told it would arrive in "another 3 weeks". Yesterday I received an email telling me it would be until January 2009, due to a manufacturers delay. I've done a little research and from what I'm told, it sounds like Zooper will soon be a thing of the past.
So, I'm still looking for the Twist. I really want the 2008 model because of the extended canopy. However, I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever find one, or if I should look into the 2007. Does anyone actually know the difference with the canopies between these 2 models? Zooper told me that the difference is the 2008 has an "extended napper canopy". I'm just wondering if anyone out there owns a 2007 and how much the canopy actually covers?
Any thoughts on where I might be able to find a 2008? New or used?
I really hope someone out there can help - getting desperate!!
Thanks

Mom to One, I called Zooper today. The Zooper Twist from Costco is from 2007, therefore no head support.
BTW, I just looked at Costco's website and the stroller is gone! Wow, our luck that we probably got one of the last ones.
Husband pushed the stroller yesterday, and he was very happy with it too. I noticed he didn't kick the back wheels like I did. However, I also don't kick those wheels much anymore. I guess it's just a matter of getting used to it.
In regards to folding and unfolding, this was very very simple. The trick was knowing that there's two steps to unfolding. To open, just simply unclick the buckle on the side, then I push down the primary safety lock with my foot, and it opens.
The seat is very generous for my little one. It's wide and deep. Love the cupholder. The straps are not very tight on the baby, even though I have them adjusted all the way to the back. The true test will be taking it traveling and Disneyland in December.

kinhund: Since I don't have a 2008, I can't speak to it. But with the 2007 model that I have, the canopy size looks like what's pictured on their website. It is nice and large. Definitely enough to cover at least her face with the sun coming directly at her, without blocking her view.
Before I found the stroller on Costco, I was going to get it at www.strollerdepot.com. Over the Labor Day weekend, they had an extra 5% off. considering everyone selling at the same price, every little bit of discount helps.
Good luck with your search!

Thanks for the update! They look so much alike. I actually took the head support off the stroller. My son doesn't seem to need it, he almostnever falls asleep on his stroller. He's too interested in the world around him to be sleeping. He's only slept twice since we've used the stroller in June. Even then, it must have been for 30 minutes only. That said, he is never uncomfortable in it.
Have fun in Disneyland, don't forget to visit California adventures. It is more catered to families with small children.

Hi there!
I found a 2008 Zooper Twist in Wheat. I'm not sure if that is the color you wanted but I received an e-mail from www.preppyparents.com that it is in-stock and ready to ship. I was also told that Zooper has stopped shipping most of their products in July (purchased mine early June) due to factory delays and they don't anticipate more strollers until Jan of 2009, like you said. www.strollerdepot.com also has the Wheat color in stock. I really like our 2008 Zooper Twist. I primarily bought it for the extended napper canopy & umbrella fold all the other accessories are just a plus for me. Hope this helped.

Hello again
Thanks for the help - I've located a couple of websites that still have the Wheat Twist available. I was hoping for any other color really! My son probably wouldn't care, but I'm concerned that my husband wouldn't want to put his son in a pink stroller!!
My main reason for wanting the 2008 model is the extended canopy. I have a Chicco C5 currently and the canopy doesn't keep the sun out at all. We live in sunny Florida and will be moving to sunny Spain soon, so the Twist I thought, would give him the best protection from the sun.
Does anyone know how well the canopy on the 2007 model keeps the sun out? I appreciate any responses
Thanks again.

My 2007 comes with a UVsun shade, is that what you mean? I haven't actually used it though. The canopy on my Zooper is large and can be pulled all the way down to cover baby's upper body well. My guess with you in FL is that you will need to use the UV shade. I'll go play with mine later and report back.

I too obsessed over getting the 2008 twist since July, which is were I placed the first of many orders. Finally I too called all over the US as well as over seas trying to find since I was in love with the napper canopy. Well I finally gave in and got the 07 model after speaking with a rep at zooper extensively. I am so glad I did. Its freaking great! I bought it thinking, when the one i want comes in January I can sell this one...well I am thinking of canceling the other order I am so pleased with this stroller. The canopy comes down and sort of encloses lil Z (8 months). The more you recline, the less it encloses but the canopy is so great to begin with its fine. Plus it came with all the great accessories. The UV cover is so useful for enclosing him when he falls asleep and definetly picks up where the canopy leaves off. Overall definetly a++

NikkiYu - I was having a hard time finding a 2007 model even! I did locate a couple of places that had the 2007 and 2008 twist, but all in the Wheat/Pink color and as much as I really wanted the Twist, I couldn't bring myself to buy my son a pink stroller!
I figured the Twist wasn't meant to be and looked around for something similar. A few places had recommended the Joovy Groove as the one most like the Twist. It has an extendable canopy - which I'd obsessed over, as well as anextra seat and canopy (these can be machine washed).
I'd ignored the recommendations as it retails for $299 - a little more than I'd hoped to spend. It's supposedly a higher end brand. However - after a fierce bidding war on Ebay, I just bought one for $132!! I haven't received it yet, but it's on it's way.
I'll report back when I've taken it for a test drive. This may just be the alternative to the Twist and it isn't backordered for 6 months - an added bonus!!
Apparently I'm not the only one out there who's been frantically searching the internet for a Twist, so I'll seehow the Joovy Groove measures up........
to be continued..................!!!

wow that deal is awesome!!! which color did you get? I have the 07 twist in red i kno what you mean about that pink stroller, the sad thing is i actually considered it hahaha but luckily dad talked some sense into me. Joovy is also a great brand. We actually have a joovy caboose at grandma's. Let me know how you like the groove I hear it comes with 2 complete fabrics, like black and green or black and blue etc ... Let me know how you like it ( :

So, the story continues...........I recieved the Groove on monday. Happily I take it out of the box and put it toghether. Only to realize that one handlebar is bent, resulting in one wheel not even touching the ground!! I contacted Joovy cust. service and they apologized and told me they would ship another to me right away. I'm hoping it'll be here tomorrow.
So I don't know what to tell you about how I like it. From looking at the damaged one, it does seem very nice. Feels like a very good quality. I got the green/black color, which is a very bright green - but I like it. It comes with an additional seat + canopy and it can be machine washed. It also has a very nice thick seat pad. One side is a cool, moisture wicking material. The other a warm fleece. The canopy is nice and large, with an extension on the end. I don't know that it'll block the sun completely if it's directly in front, but we'll see. Theseat also is much wider than regular umbrella strollers, with ample room for my son. The handles seem taller than most, so there shouldn't be an issue with kicking the wheels as I find myself doing on most strollers.
I really wanted a UV cover as we're often out in the sun, but I'm hoping I may be able to find one elsewhere that fits the Groove.
So, I guess I'll wait and hope I have more luck with the next one. It seems promising though...............
