BF?

So, River has finally got the hang of breastfeeding!! Now my question is about the amount he is nursing. He has basically been nursing for the last 6 hours... is this normal for a 3 week old or is he not getting enough? I am worried he is starving.

probably a growth spurt, your supply will adjust within about 24 hours or so.

Yes it's normal. Some just love the boob. How many wet /dirty diapers does he have a day? 5-6? Then he is fine! Congrats on making a great choice to nurse your boy.

Thanks! It has been a challenge because he was born with a "disorganized" suck and then he was in the Special Care Nursery where we allowed them to give him the bottle. So then he got used to the instant reward. But, he inspired me to keep trying because he really, really wanted to nurse. He was constantly rooting and pushing himself down my chest. He probably does just love it and he has clearly been wanting it for nearly three weeks. He looks totally drunk when he comes off!

Oh yeah. I love the drunk boob look. My daughter gets it once in awhlie now at 13.5 months but as a newborn they do it a lot...then fall asleep with a mouth full of milk and drool.

I know how hard it can be in the beginning and I understand why some women give up but I am so glad that you or I didn't!

Soooo easy. Even making a bottle sounds too hard now. Put baby to boob. ONe step. And it's SIMPLE!

I know! I pump for that baby I wet nurse occasionally and it's such a pain in the ass.

Does anyone know if I still need to pump and how often? I have been pumping every two to three hours to keep my milk in supply but I couldn't today because he was on all day. Then he fell asleep and I tried to pump but barely got anything.Does that mean he wasn't getting anything? But they are better at sucking right?

Baby is better than pump, only pump if you need to bottle for some reason, or if you miss a feeding(he takes a bottle).
