Hair question

posted 9th Feb '09
Okay, so my 2 month old has hair that sticks up all the time. I've tried washing it and sticking a hat on a certain way until it dries, wiping it with diaper wipes to keep it down, even spit (OK gross, I know, but i'm desperate)...

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to keep my baby's hair under control? Something that is safe for babies?

Ever try moisturizer? At the first center that I worked at, a mom would put some in her son's hair and give him a mohawk..

you can spray a little hairspray on a brush and brush it through but other than products you just have to wait for the hair to find its natural , more permanant pattern. I work as a stylist in a salon and all products are safe for babies hair, just don't spray th spray any aerosol around them because its too much for their lungs.

Number one, I think it's absolutely adorable when a baby's hair sticks up--my daughter is 5 mo. old and hers stickes straight up no matter what!! But if you wanna keep it down, just use hairspray....make sure you cover baby's face and spray from a foot or so away, and don't use too much...but there's no reason why you can't use hairspray a lil bit. If you're worried about it being bad for him, you can find organic or natural hairspray that's probably a little bit gentler.

Lotion. It helps a little.
That fuzzy lil baby hair is hard to control though

Yeah, his hair goes into a mohawk much better than into a nice little style... :-/ people just keep complaining about his hair (grandparents specifically...)

thanks ladies! I think he's adorable no matter what (yes, I'm one of THOSE mom's) I'll just have to grin and bare it until it either gets long enough to lay down on it's own, or goes into a permenant mohawk!   It's kinda fits his personality, he's a very laid-back funny baby. He sits there in his crib while I'm encouraging him to take a nap (like now) kicking his feet up as high as he can and giggling to high heaven when his feet bounce on the bed.... It's hard to not want to go over and giggle with him or hold and cuddle him, but he must take naps!!!
