Non-Stress Tests

posted 12th May '07
I have been having to go in twice a week for these NST's and was curious how many of you are also going through this? We go in every tuesday and friday, and this last tuesday she didn't do so well, but passed perfectly yesterday. We are going in for a major ultrasound on wed. and will know exactly how big she is and how her amniotic fluid is doing. They were saying we might have had to have her as soon as 35 weeks, but luckily she did good yesterday so bought us some more time. But looks like we are going to be induced no matter what no later than June 1st!

To give you all a little past info, I am a diabetic, went into the pregnancy very controlled, and then it sort of got all out of whack like at around the 7 month (beginning of) and so they put me on insulin, and I was on oral meds prior to that. But anyhow, the baby was measuring at our 31 week and some odd day ultrasound at like 5lbs and a quarter ounce, that is one of the pics of her in my avatar area. I am curious if anyone else has been told their baby is that large, like measuring in the 95th percentile? This is my second baby and my son wasn't even 8lbs when he ws born at almost 38 weeks.

Just curious if anyone is going through anything like this, I just feel like I live at the hospital, I have been going there 3 plus times a week for appointments and these NST's and ultrasounds for like well over a month. I am so terrified about them delivering her so early, but is 36 or 37 weeks really that early? I just am so scared if she has to spend anytime in the NICU...I am sure it is something we are all scared of.

I know how you feel, I go to the doctor twice a week and have two NSTs a week plus one ultrasound. I'm just so tired of being in the doctor's office! But, it's because of my blood pressure and swelling.

She should be fine at 36 weeks and great at 37 weeks, even if she has to stay a little while in the NICU, so try not to worry!

They told me mine was measuring in the 90 something percentile but just remember that ultrasounds can be a little off when it comes to measurements so don't freak too bad.

Good luck! I hope she keeps doing good.

Thanks so much for responding, and I hope everything works out ok for you too. So do you have pre-eclampsia or is there a reason for the blood pressure and swelling. Had pre-eclampsia with my son, but so far my blood pressure for this has been good, a little swelling, and I did go through a little phase where there was protein in my urine, but luckily that went away. So have they talked about when they plan to induce you or if they will?

No I don't have preeclampsia, I really honestly don't know why they are so paranoid. My doctor hasn't said anything about inducing, I can't wait until she does though!

I am only 32 weeks and I go twice a week for NST and a ulrtasound. Thursday I was told she is in the 36th percentile. And then they had me do a NST and this was the 3rd non reactive one in a week so I was sent to the hospital. But NOT my hospital a special one with a NICU. They were going to give me a CST and I could have possbily had her that day. They decided shes doing ok in there and that they want to wait as long as they can. That was the scariest day of my life thinking i could have a premature baby. But good luck to you guys. 36 or 37 weeks isnt bad. Im probally only going until 34 or 35 weeks.

im not going through exactly what you are, but similiar. they had me hooked up to the nst two days in a row last week due to decrease in fetal movement (and because he has something wrong). the first day, he JUST MADE the mark! and then on wends, he did awesome. so they are setting me up to be hooked up to it again this coming week to make sure everything is fine. But i just had my 32 week ultrasound and they are measuring my baby at 5 lbs 1 ounces. They told me that if i was to go full term, he would easily be 10 lbs. But due to his problem (hydrocephulas) they will be taking him at 36-37 weeks. If they are telling you they may need to take him early, have they given you the steriod shot? They gave it to me last week. Told me 36 weeks is still kinda early. Good luck!

They havent given it to me yet. That was just my 1st appt at my high risk dr. So I am scared to go back. Atleast your baby made the mark mine didnt. They were going to do a Contraction Stress Tests before they decided if they were going to take her. WOW 5 lbs already! I thought was a lot. My mom thinks that if I go to term she will be 10 lbs and i dont think that will happen.
