The fact that it's from 2005 isn't bad... but there is literally tons of research articles about the efficacy of flu vaccines. Truth is, different populations get more benefit from the vaccine than others, and year-to-year, as the strain of flu changes, sometimes the vaccine isn't a good "match" so the vaccine isn't as effective that year. More than any other vaccine, there is a lot of confounding factors that go into trying to score the flu vaccine. The elderly are most vulnerable (for seasonal flu), but also mount the least impressive antibody repsonse to the vaccine. Ugh... I could go on and on (as I tend to do).

We should get some interesting vaccine data this year.... the H1N1 vax is a great match, and the population most at-risk is also the best suited for vaccine protection, butthe vaxis also coming on the scene a few months after the (early) start of flu season.

The drive is OVER an hour away, it took over 30 minutes to park, and by time I got there, I almost missed the time but guess what??? I need to be REFERRED!!! Here's a question: why are people that are afraid of "big pharma" because it's all about money, listen to the advice of doctors who give their information out in books for you to buy and tell you to take supplements that you can buy off their website? Anyone see the irony here?
