Honestly--it was a year Feb for my son having his.....I got over it--i was an emotional reck from it when it first happend...though i'll never be fully over it--because seeing my child in convolutions was horrible....
The older she gets the closer it will be that she won't have another ever! That's the way i look at it with my boys...Just waiting for the age of 6 to pass lol.

It has happened to my daughter Mya a couple of times in her short life. The first was at a week old. I thought we would lose her.  i did CPR and I took her to my neighbor because she was so much older then me and had more kids+ experience. I still remember collapsing in the floor screaming help my baby, and just waiting for the unimaginable because the seizure wouldn't let up. We were too far out for an ambulance. I will never understand how she lived and the hospital can't explain it. She is a strong little girl who has dealt with constant bronchitis and allergies that are now letting up as she gets older. She has gone thru Hand, Foot, and Mouth and an overnight stay at the hospital of IVs, and meds because the infection was spreading. She is a fighter. <3

She's almost three and had one more a couple of months ago, and thank goodness for my husband who helped me thru it without freaking out. They don't seem to have any adverse effect on her, and thank goodness for that but they are SCARY! I have questioned the dr. who says it's a febrile seizure but if she ever has another then I'm pushing for scans.

My daughter had them because of a reaction to a vaccine. She had the phemonia vaccine right before she was one year old and her immune system couldn't handle it. She went from being well to seriously ill.
We coslept with her and I woke up to her having a seizure. We called 911 and when she had a second one later on we took her ourselves to the emergency room. They took blood from her, ran tests on her, stuck a cathatar in her little body. The doctor there said it was from an ear infection, which she wouldn't have gotten had her body not been messed up by the vaccine.
We've never given her that vaccine again. I also don't do flu shots either. Since they are for the previous season's strain, it really doesn't do any good, in my opinion.
But like the other moms whose kids have had them, my heart races everytime she gets sick. My adrenaline pumps and a part of me freaks out until she gets better. I'm always a little afraid of losing her now.

My LO had his 12-15mths vaccines 7 days prior to his seizure..Did your LO only get them after vaccines? I did a little research and found out there is a increase is febrile seizures 7-10 days after the mmr vaccine.. The ER told us he had a viral infection which caused the seizure but he had no other symptoms? only the high fever.. So I'm not sure what really caused it I just really hope he never gets one again.. He has had mild fevers which I think are caused by his teething but they go away with tylenol.

She only got them after those vaccines. She had her regular vaccines and then the optional pneumonia one. My husband had taken her that doctor's visit and didn't ask what they were giving her. Otherwise we wouldn't have let her have that many vaccines at once.
I think if we get them the individual vaccines, not all together, and seperate them, so the kids have a chance to heal after each one, then vaccines would be a lot safer.
She's never had them again. Just that one day.

I didn't know about it either until my oldest had his seizure. According to the dr they are normal--but i dont see how a seizure can be normal =/
Febrile or not.

Hello Mommas...

My LO had her first fever without a seizzure (she is 2) = ) I was wondering if any of your LO's either consecutively had the seizures with every fever or can they space themselves out?

I don't want to go throw that again and I'm hoping this means she is growing out of them!

Did she have a seizure and then have a fever? Because that's how it happened with my son...he didn't have a fever until after he had the seizure...
