Christian God vs. All other Gods vs. No Gods at all

posted 5th Feb
Ok, I don't get this black and white thinking.

Why do I constantly see people say things like "well, if I'm right about God, then I go to Heaven. If I'm wrong, then there's nothing and it doesn't matter"?

There aren't just the two options. It's not there's either the Christian God or there's nothing. There are numerous religions, and numerous Gods that people believe in. Why are these always ignored? Why is it just assumed that it's either God or no God?

Why do people not think that maybe there's no Christian God, but there IS some other God? People seem to be willing to accept, for argument sake, that there might not be a God, and that's fine because if they're wrong, like they say, no foul. So why do people not factor in all the other Gods that people believe in and think that maybe one of them could be right, and that the argument needs to be Christian God vs. Other Gods vs. No Gods at all, instead of just Christian God vs. No God?

People will believe in what they are taught to believe in, most of the time.

There really is no way to 'prove' what there is. I'd like to think of a higher power & I do pray, but I can't help but to be skeptical because it's the unknown.

Have you ever read the book "What Dreams May Come". I read the book and absolutely love it. The movie I didn't so much care for. In the book they included various religions and explored reincarnation, heaven, and hell among other beliefs.

I get that. But when it comes to debating the subject, I almost never see any other Gods or religions brought it, it's just God vs. No God, which is stupid, IMO. These other religions and Gods mean something to people, so why discount them? If people are willing to debate whether or not God exists, why do they always debate only the existence of nothing instead of some other deity in place of God?

I think gods the evil one, and Satan is the good one. Lucifer tried to over throw god because, lets face it, god is an asshole He flooded the earth, he rained fireballs (sodom a gamorah (sp?) He turned lots wife into a pillar of dust.....so when Lucifer tried to over throw god, he cast him to hell. That's why when the anti-christ comes he is suppose to "fool" everyone by being nice....but really he is good and god is evil.

I don't believe in anything. I'm also big enough to admit that I don't know for certain, nobody does. I just really feel that there is no God. That applies to all Gods. When I say, "There is no God" it is all inclusive.

I think most people are completely missing the point here. I've clarified with my second post. This isn't about believing in God or not, it's about debating the subject and assuming the only two options are God or Not God.

This reminds me of a comedian I was watching. He was commenting on jihadists and their suicide bombings and how they believe that they'll get to heaven through those means.. Then he commented how we [guess he was paraphrasing for all Christians] Christians believe suicide to be a sin and you go to hell..
Then he says something along the lines of "Well damnit, in the end one of us is going to be right".

Lol, as black and white as that may be I've always found it humorous.

As for me though, I stand by my Christian POV about the afterlife but I have commented on numerous occasions to DH about how cool it's going to be in the end to "find out". Not that I don't have a strong conviction in my faith but.. IDK, I guess I'm morbid in the sense that I'm *almost* eager to experience it myself instead of speculate or read about it.

I also think it's funny that DH and I disagree about the afterlife. We were talking the other night about my beliefnet results. I didn't know he was as conservative as he is  . Hell, I didn't know how liberal I am!

i agree with this we all must of come from some place and i kindof hope we are going some place when its all over here but then again i might just as well be happy being dirt for some pretty flower to grow in. lol ok that said I dont know why ppl are so right or wrong on this why cant we all be right and just have to be acountable for what we believe. if there is a god of any kind and he does his or her great thing and has some place wounderful great. and if not oh well. and if you dont believe something higher powered then thats great to when its over its over and you go no place. i figure most ppl feel better thinking there could be something better. no matter what the better is.

Like I said, my interpretation is all inclusive. I do find myself most often having the God debate with Christians, though.

I can't say I have never questioned my faith.

I have.

However I have had a few encounters in my life to know that the God I believe in which is Jesus is in fact the truth.

and like Gina said.
its faith.
