Abortion poll
posted 3rd Feb
I'm putting it in D&D because it's a sensitive subject, but it's really just meant to be a poll. Nobody is obligated, or even requested, to explain why they voted the way they did, though I certainly cannot stop people if they wish to do so.
Please, do not offer your opinions about how you think you would feel if you've never had one, that's not relevant to this poll.
This is such a bone of contention on this forum (generally between women who have never had one, oddly), that I want to find out who those who have actually had one feel about it. It may have been done before, I don't know and don't really care, heh. I'm curious, so I'm making a poll. And because it is a sensitive subject, I only expect poll answers, and don't expect women to offer up their life stories (but again, I cannot stop them if they wish to, for some reason).
Oh, and feel free to try to skew the results of the poll to prove your side, if you've never actually had an abortion, but just want to win the "how women feel about abortion" argument that badly. I certainly cannot stop you. If you think I'm talking to you here, I likely am.
And, at the risk of creating a self-fulfilling prophecy, please don't start debating anything else about abortion. This is JUST a poll, on a specific subject. If you must comment, keep it to your personal experiences with abortion. If you don't have any personal experiences with it, and still want to post, see the above, you're probably one of the people I'm talking about.

Awesome.
I've been wanting to know the answer to this one too

Mine has a long and horrible story behind it, so Ill just say the experience is awful and something I wont likely ever get over.
Its pretty traumatic.
Edit: And I voted equal mix.

Hey C, excellent topic! You know how I feel but I'll share why I voted the way I did.
As a mother who had an abortion due to a pretty bad neural tube defect I can assure you that even though you know you did what was best to prevent further suffering there still is a GREAT amount of greif and guilt that I deal with everyday!!!! Some days I feel great about our decision. Yet other days I'd like to take my own life only to give him his back.
I often feel some sort of connection with other mothers who have had an abortion for any reasonthrough my guilt. Its very difficult to explain.

Interesting results, thus far.
I'm curious to hear about the regrets more then the non-regrets.

I am not sure if any of those poll choices are the best choice for me-- but I tried my best to answer honestly.

I'm Curious To know what a neural tube defect is. If you didn't have the abortion would he have passed anyways?

Equil mix here too-only because of my situation...its hard to talk about, and I try not to think about it too much. I just keep telling myself I made the right decision.

Ever hear of Spina Bifida? Our little guy had an open leison at the bottom of his back where his spinal cord was exposed which would have left him paralyzed. We would have been ok with that and continued the pregnancy. However, the leison was so bad it was pulling his brain down through the bottom of his skull. The swelling on his brain was so bad from this there was pretty much no hope...

the only thing that makes me angry about abortion...is when women start using it as a form of birth control....they go"ooops! I am pregnant...oh well I will just get an abortion and my life is good again". But if the baby is going to have defects etc....then that is understandable.

Yeah I've Heard of That. I'm against abortion EXCEPT in cases like these. You put him out of his suffering and I think it was the right thing to do. I'm sorry for that though.
