I bought the same diaper pail! It works great and keeps in the smell and the bags are cheaper than the diaper genie bags.

Quoting lolajessup:“ well i got about everything i needed. dont buy the little things, like outlet plugs, bottles, bibs, blankets, ... [snip!] ... on your registry. but i was lucky, not sure what your family and friends are like and how much you think they will bring you.”

Well, I dont come from a wealthy family and my friends are barely making it with the bad economy and all. Thats why I dont want to depend on them or expect them to get me anything. I just want to be prepared and not wait til the last minute. I have bought the nursery furniture, about 12 little outfits, one blanket, 2 pacifiers. Should I start buying stacks of formula and diapers?

I was given plenty of diapers too. And pacifiers. And outfits. I got free formula from Motherhood, but I'm going to try and breastfeed.

I say that if you see diapers and formula on sale some where... why not stock up when it is at a good price

if you catch a sale on diapers.. other than that i would wait. I got a ton of diapers.. let everyone know to bring diapers to your shower though. just about everyone who came to my shower bought a thing of diapers.. but i was pretty lucky on that.

The diaper champ? I have it, it's gotta be cheaper buying regular trash bags than those special inserts for the genie. I do like it but it can get stinky when it gets full.

Don't buy bibs (like someone else mentioned).. I got a million of them at the baby shower. You will also not really need to buy a wipe warmer (it's not needed), or baby shoes (because people may buy you some and also a new born doesn't really wear shoes, not to mention their feet grow so quick).
You should make a registry and after your shower, get the things you didn't get from your registry. I know you're probably anxious and want to do some shopping.. so what we did was buy small things before the shower. We brought two little outfits, a set of pacifiers, and diapers. Then, after the shower, we got things that weren't given to us.

Formula& Diapers and Whipes are a good idea for you to buy. I only got two packs of diapers and two things of whipes at my shower. Clearly, that won't last long.. so we got tons more. We also bought one can of formula so far.. the hospital gives us another one and we don't want to stock up on formula just yet incase we have to switch it (for whatever reason).

Definetly buy nappies and wipes when theyre on sale & stock up, but try not to buy too many of the same size because bubs grow so fast.
Whenever friends asked me what i needed, instead of saying the same thing to each friend, id say something different, that way i didnt get heaps of one thing. I was given lots of teddies though - there only so many 'first bears' a baby can have! lol
Umm..i agree with the other mamas - wipe warmer is a waste of $$.
I bought a few bassinet sheet sets, but found i only needed 2.
Change table mattress protector is great for when bub decides to pee, wont soak through, easier to clean.
I found shopping for bub stuff on Ebay excellent, saved alot of $$.

The only thing i spent heaps on and find not really useful is the type of carseat we bought. Itsa 'turn-a-tot' one, but we dont even use the swivel feature, yet paid an extra $100 (Aus) for it.

Yeah. She should buy the smaller one incase someone gets her the bigger one. I put one on my registry but no one got us it and we have yet to purchase one.
