Photoshop Fun! Chat Thread

Hello everyone...


A lot of us have TONS of questions about Photoshop and a lot of interest in it, so here is a chat thread for all of us.

Inside we can chat about tutorials, the best ways we found to use it, sharing of our work and just to chat in a common interest!

We try to do Photoshop assignments frequently...but participation is key!!

July 16, 2009 Assignment

Combine elements of two or more images into one in such a way as to fool the viewer into believing what they see is an original photographic scene.

Colorization, feathering selections, and slight filter manipulation can often be used to mask some of the coarser aspects of the cut-and-paste routines, but please be subtle!

Upload the pics you used in addition to your masterpiece!! I will make a drop off link soon.

BASIC IS- take 2 pics, example a full body pic of you and a picture off the web of say...a tropical paradise. Cut you out of your pic and paste it into the beach scene to make it believable that you are there in paradise. Try different tools with feathering the edges, colorization to have it match the color saturation of the background and try and challenge yourself with this. You CAN use tutorials to find your best method of cutting out images from a background. Have fun!!

MAY 17, 2009 ASSIGNMENT

This assignment is titled, UNREALISTIC.

The creativity is all on you, make a picture into something unrealistic.

It can be animals, scenery, people...cars...anything you can think of that would fit into the unrealistic category. HAVE FUN!!!

NO DEADLINE....

I was thinking the first assignment to be something pretty easy (well, it is for me). And something I see a lot of questions being asked....and that is, having a black and white pic with color in certain areas.....Do you think that would be a good one to start off with??

I had 7.0 CS4, but since I know nothing about the program, my sister game me Elements to play around with for a bit before I move to the big daddy program. I just downloaded it the other day.

Any tips, suggestions? I have no idea how to do anything.

They should make this a sticky.

I don't use Photoshop, I use Gimp. Can I still be a part of this?

I can do pretty much anything in PS 7.0, so any kind of tutorials u need just lemme know.

I have PS CS3, so most of my info would come from that program. I know a lot of Adobe is similar just some have more options and what not...

As far as the assignments go, I am sure any program can do it and if others say how they did it with their program....more people can learn!

welcome! Glad to have you here. After a while, when people become regulars I can put your names in the OP with a link to your profile and have which program you use next to it (with your permission of course)

  I actually teach high school technology courses, and as part of one of them I do use Photoshop, so it will be nice to learn how to do some of the things I can do with Gimp in Photoshop.
