Quoting Tara[♥♥]: What kind of templates?
Quoting trinimama: unless they are called embellishments lol.. i have bo idea..like when you download frames and stuff, ... [snip!] ... stuff, what are those called in PS world? lol and where do you put them? or do you just drag them in the PS screen to use them?the embellishments like frames and whatnot for siggies are most likely gonna be a .PNG file. In PS go to File>Open and then open that embellishment u wanna use. Ur gonna wanna make sure its a good size for a siggy (and not something HUGE like for digi scrapping) so go to Image>Image Size. For a good size for a siggy make sure its 72 ppi and change the width to be like 5 inches (thats good for a siggy) and the height will automatically change to match it. Look in the bottom left hand corner of your screen, that bottom box is called your Layers Pallette. You'll see a mini picture of your frame (or whatever embellishment you've opened) and next to it it'll be labeled "Layer 0". Go up to Layer>New>Layer and then in your Layers Pallette they'll be on top of your "Layer 0" a "Layer 1". So now whatever you put in "Layer 1" will go on top of your frame (or whatever). Since you'll want a picture behind your frame (assuming thats what your using here) or technically "underneath" it, you'll need to go over to your Layers Pallete and click and drag "Layer 1" underneath "Layer 0". Then File>Open and open up your picture u wanna use, hit CTRL+A to select the whole image, CTRL+C to copy the image then X out of that picture. Then hit CTRL+V to paste your picture in "Layer 1", which is now beneath "Layer 0", so you should now see your picture underneath your frame (once again, assuming thats what you're using). Now you can resize your picture for it to match up to your frame. To do that (in case u dont know how) hit V on your keyboard to make sure that your move tool is selected and on your picture you should see little boxes in the corners..
Hold down SHIFT on the keyboard and use your mouse to drag in the corner to make your image smaller. Get it where u want it behind your frame. If you need to erase some of the picture (like if it shows outside the frame or whatver) then you can use the eraser tool. Hit E onyour keyboard to select it. Make sure your on your picture layer ("Layer 1") and then erase where u need to.

Quoting Daisy is a mommy again!: I suppose it all depends how light or dark a photo is... I just mean that sometimes my b&ws have ... [snip!] ... my b&ws have a lot of gray... or some are lighter... darker... so on... I feel a little stupid right now....Eh dont feel stupid! I know what u mean, and yes it does deoend on the photo itself. You can make the contrast a lil higher if you like a more black and white look, versus a lot of gray
