Think of it as someone who is new, a lurker mostly. They see how gaga is, get a feel, get to know the people by a far. Well if they observe a certain group of girls that seem like they are top shit, like they can post anywhere and totally dominate, even if it is done in a not-so-nice way, the person still decides they want to be cool and hang with them. I had more to add to that but I'm finishing a couple orders of magnets while I'm thinking/writing this.

Wait, I remember some of the rest of my thought. . .

So that person starts 'following" (for lack of better words) the herd (girls) around and even if this follower doesn't agree with what they are saying to someone, they still go with it and say what they are saying, do what they are doing.

Ok, we're on page two.

I will explain why I posted this now.

Nobody figured out what *I* meant, though they were some insightful responses, and I thank those who replied for thinking about the question and taking a shot.

The point I am making with that quote is that when someone bullies you on here (or elsewhere), they are the ox-herd. They want you to respond, either by defending yourself, or getting mad and attacking back. They are goading you, like an ox, into doing what it is they want. They are the ones in control.

While I understand that it is difficult to hear negative and hurtful things said about yourself, and it is most people's first instinct to respond in one of the two aforementioned ways, in my opinion, doing so just gives the person doing the attacking exactly what they want. It lets them win. They want to know that they've gotten to you, on any level. They want to make you jump through their hoops. They enjoy the power of bullying someone into doing what it is they want them to do. That's why they do it.

I don't fault people for defending themselves or attacking back, at all, because it's generally a normal human response, but as I said, it also lets them win. They are like the ox-herd, goading you into the ox pen.
