re: Certainty

But what if your "Megan" is everyone else's "Andrea" or some other name? Who's to say that what you see as blue is not what I see as orange? I suppose then you would still be 100% certain of what you perceive, but does it matter if the perception is not 100% accurate?

I have thought about this a lot during my life so far. Especially when I have been drinking or smoking weed. Because when my mind is taken out of the "normal" function mode, it is free to wander and think of things more abstractly I suppose. I find comfort in believing things can all be just in our minds and I'm not sure why. I guess because when nothing is certain, everything is possible.

agreed! how do we know that the people in the world who are color blind arnt really seeing the realy color. the only reason they are color blind is because they dont agree with someone elses sences. its like being cold. when your cold you shiver and thats what tells you you are cold. what if someone shivers because they think they are cold.? does that mean they are cold or there body just thinks its cold? its all very confusing but makes sence

I swear God you sound like my Philosophy professor..lol I heart you. He would always make me think about things that I would have never thought twice about...

We had a discussion once about "common sense". When people say that it is common sense for someone to know something. His argument was that there is no such thing as common sense because there is nothing that every knows for example a baby....

Sorry for rambling..lol but to answer the question I agree that there is nothing that we can be a100% certain of.

I feel it's like the placebo effect. You tell people they are getting a treatment and many times they self heal, because there mind is telling them it will work. Like the silver bracelets that are supposed to take away pain. Who knows if they scientifically work but if the person believes it does, what's the difference? Perception is reality.
