Suggest me some good books?

posted 16th Jan '09
Being in the house so much has had me BORED OUT OF MY MIND. I've read almost every book that was "un-read" on my bookshelf. I was wondering if you guys could give me some good book suggestions and tell me a little bit of what the book is about.

I like books fromALL genre's. My favorite book ever (since 3rd grade lol) is The Giver by Lois Lowry. Right now I'm in the middle of Desert Flower by Waris Dirie (a Somali girl turned supermodel. It's great so far- for anybody who cares to know. it really makes you appreciate what you have in life. but reading about her circumcision at 5yrs old was almost too much to bear lol.)
I got all of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books for Christmas but finished those already. I must confess that I have read (and loved) every Harry Potter book lol along with Lord of the Rings (and yes I've already read The Hobbit as well). I LOVE Patricia Cornwell too (i once though I would be a medical examiner or in forensics).

ANYWAYS...suggest me some great books of any genre? (and I already know about Twilight so there is no need to mention that).

I was gonna say Twilight too, lmao.

Candy by Luke Davies is really good,
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by by John Boyne,
the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks,
Schindler's List by Thomas Keneally,
and last but not least The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry.

my faves.

I love Janet Evanovich, she's got a series out, I think it's up to about 13 or so. It's about a female bounty hunter who is always in some kind of strange situation. Her partner is a former ho, as they put it in the books. They are always escaping some off the wall way of being killed and have to bring in their bounties. I find them very funny and are an easy read. I also like Nicholas Sparks, author of the notebook. He's got quite a few out that can be real tear jerkers.

Memory keeper's daughter was an amazing book. :]

I liked Abarat by Clive Barker, kind of an Alice in Wonderland story, but much more in depth. The Thief of always was a good book from him. (Both aren't that long since they are classified as "young adult" literature.

Neil Gaiman is an amazing author as well, kind of in the darker side of things, but a really great fiction writer.

Y'know, Lovely Bones the movie is coming out soon. My favorite book of all time. Lucky's very good as well. Alice Sebold is the shit.

OP, anything by Hunter S. Thompson. I'm reading his oral biography right now. He's my hero.

No, it's about a teenage girl that gets murdered and her side from heaven. She watches down on her family and her killer.. It was hard for me to get past the second chapter, but after that it was amazing.
