Ah, yeah I tried the same tool (called the heal tool on Gimp) and it did the same thing you mentioned. I ended up selecting and copying a part of the wall, then positioning it over the box. I've removed things from several pics for people, and I always like to practice it because I've yet to be able to do it the same way twice.

Yes, Gimp is free. It has all of the capabilities of Photoshop, but you don't have to pay anything for it.   You can download it at www.gimp.org

Yay, I hope it's easier than Photoshop?? I could never get the hang of it, I had gotten a free copy from a friend, and I sucked at it, so I just took it off my computer.

Well, it's not really any easier than learning Photoshop.   In fact, some might even think it's harder because there are fewer tutorials for Gimp.

I wish I could be more help, Danielle, but everything I can do I learned by messing around with it, and from reading the Gimp user manual.
