Chest Congestion

Anyone know what to do when your baby is congested? He's 5 months old and weezing and I can feel it through his chest. He's coughed a couple of times and got some of the flemmy substance out. He's not crying, but it's worrying me...he's playing like a normal baby. Just a 1st time mom and need some advice. Thanks

Do you have a humidifier? That would help or just boiling water in a pan if you don't have one.

I'm no help but I'm going to watch. Jacoby has the same thing.

Oh yeah it should. And I know they have Vicks for babies but I don't know the age recommendation for them. I've seen some mothers suggest putting Vicks on your own hand and letting the baby smell it but not put it on them but again I don't know what the ages are for that.

Do u think he would be fine if he went back to sleep for a while?

i would take him to the doc as soon as you can....my baby had coughing, wheezing, and congestion and he ended up having bronchialitis. I was given a nebulizer to give him albuterol breathing treatments. you can never be to sure with babies....better safe than sorry, its also symptoms of rsv if the baby was preemie or just has weakened immunities.i would not suggest trying to make him hot while he sleeps, thats a sids danger. just put him in a car seat or bouncy seat or anything that will keep him elevated. this will make his breathing easier. i am currently going through this same thing with my 5 1/2 month old too!

Thanks for the advice. I took him to the doctor today and she said he has croup. She said it's nothing to really worry about and it will have to run its course. I'm glad I took him though, because I now feel at ease. We got a humidifier as well so his chest can loosen up. I'm so glad I took him. Thanks again and I hope your little one gets better as well

i have a 3 month old who sounds really congested. i took him to his pediatrician to get an exam over it and the doctor said that is sometimes caused by formula. nothing to worry about. i have a humidifier and haven't seen any results. have sat in the bathroom hours on in with hot shower going with him and nothing helps break it up. doctor said mixing his formula with cereal can help. idk how but thats what he said! hope that helps

did he seem fussy or anything? im going thru the same symptoms with my little 6month old girl but she is happy as can be and has no fevers or anything just the chest congestion and weezing and sneezing!!
