you can go and do a 2008 tax estimator just type it into google and it will give you an estimate.

A child is a $1000 deduction, but how much of a return you get back depends on how much you paid in versus how much you shouyld have. So if you only paid in $500, but should've paid in $1000, you will only get back $500.

My first year I made over 10 grand and got 5500 back with one child.

Second year I made about 6 grand and with 2 kids I got 3500 back.

I did claim 0 at work so they took more taxes out weekly.

My question is who should claim the child. The mom or dad. I heard who ever made more money and ive heard the other way around. Or ive heard just the mom should claim them. I just had my son on 12/4 so this is all very confusing to me. Me and the father are together and live together so who ever claims him its going into the same account. so that doesnt matter to us.

I think you can file jointly if you live together even if you're not married.

Legally it's whoever made more gets dibs on the child. If both the mom and dad claims the child the IRS will give the money to whoever made more.

I've heard 1000.00 per child but my mom just told me it's only 500.00 (she does taxes for a living).
