sleeping situation problem...prob my fault lol

So I have a 4 wk old, and during the night when he woke at first we would just come in the livng room and watch tv, and since my fiance works I'd just fall asleep in there with him. Well of course a couple times we fell asleep with him on my chest, which he loves.....too much, lol. It's now to the point that when he falls asleep, I'll put him in his basinet, and he quickly wakes up crying when he realizes he's "alone". Well I know it's my fault but anyone else have this problem? He just wants to sleep on my chest now. Thanks for any help ladies.

i did the same thing... my son is 10 months and still on occasion does he freak if he realizes t hat i am not holding him when he is asleep.

i try to not let him fall asleep that way anymore but it is easier. can you try putting the baby in a boppy pillow and lay near it until the bay is comfy falling asleep with out you? the gradually move him to his crib or bassinet and have him fall asleep on his back?

this time i know i will not let it happen again.

Can you put a shirt of your's in the bassinet? And make sure it is warm enough? The key is to be consistent. But honestly, you really aren't harming anything to co-sleep, just make sure you do it safely. They are only that little and snuggle once! Love 'em up.

I actually wouldn't fret about it if I were you. I also fell into the habit of letting this baby sleep with me snuggled in my arms. Now at 6 months old she is starting to want her independance and is getting pissy with me. I finally gave up on trying to figure out what was wrong with her the other night and just laid her in her crib thinking I would send her father back to deal with her. Well low and behold, she immediately shut up, took her pacifier, and went to sleep. She just wanted to be left alone!

They really are only little once so don't be too much in a hurry to make them independant if you can help it. My first one, I followed all the "rules" for how to raise a happy independant baby. Well she is so independant that I can't get her to even sit and relax and cuddle with me for a few minutes when I am needing some cuddles. So I don't plan on doing it that way this time. I plan to do what feels "right" to me, and not what everyone tells me is the right way.

Ugh! I've been having a similar problem in that Olivia would only fall asleep if she was in bed with us... first I put a fleece blanket on the bottom of the bassinet (its tucked in tightly on the sides) so she has something warm to lay on top of. then I put a "womb bear" (it makes a heartbeat sound) and she's spent the last two nights in her crib without having to fall asleep with us first! I've read that babies like white noise (I think that's why she likes the bear, she associates it now with sleeping). Is there a CD you could play? Or a soothing mobile with music?

Its definitely a hard conundrum!   I was just thinking of you too since I hadn't seen you much online! I hope you are doing well!

Olivia slept in a boppy the first few nights, but the tag says no sleeping on it and our pedi said no, so we stopped. It was a bummer cause she really liked sleeping in it...
