How did the Aussie ladies wake up on their first day of the

Hey all,
Wondering how everyone's celebrations went last night, we just had a tame little bbq with mates and no drinking...were home by 10.30 and in bed by 11 LOL.
How did you all wake up on your first day of 09?
Here's my story...
My morning started with a crazy banging at the front door...6.30am, my hubby and i get up thinking maybe something has spooked the simple bloke down the road (we live in a really small town so we kind of know most ppl around us)... Hubby opens the door to a bloke who we have never met before, in a major panic, blood everywhere, great big gashes in his head...saying 'you have to help me, let me in, they're after me, I need protection, call the cops!!' ....so Brian opened the door and let him in while I ran up and found the phone, he then told us he was going to pass out, then started heaving so I found a bucket for him to puke in (nedless to say, that went straight to the bin)... He cowered under our kitchen table and kept on saying what he had said and told us that his caravan had been broken into by a couple of blokes and they beat him up with his maglite... Honestly, Im going to sound awful here but I just wanted him out of my house before he woke my boys up and scarred them for life!! ... so the ambos arrived and started fixing him up and they all left...about 15min after that, a highway cop turned up from the neighbouring town (an hour away because ours dont even start the day until half past nine... great to know how safe we are here!!!! ) , he ask us a few questions and went on his way... they have had a team checking out his caravan for the last few hours and our locals still haven't shown up (the wagga cop told us we should expect to see them this morning..)
But yea... so that was my oh so wonderful start to the year... oh...I went on a cleaning frenzy on where he had been and washed the wall and floor and the chair that he touched, sorry but it grossed me out (there was no blood anywhere lucky enough)... but I hate to say that he is very lucky Brian was home because there is no way in hell that I would have let him in the house with my kids and me being heavily pregnant...I know im nasty but I would have locked the screen door and just rang the ambos, cops and my neighbour..! not proud to say it but thats what he would have gotten if it was just me...

Yeah it was a bit odd... have to wonder why he picked our house though, he would have had to pass a few to get to us... Would never have just left the poor bugger though, felt bad for him but was mainly freaked out by him and worried about the boys seeing him... plus I really didnt want any of his blood or puke to clean up... you never know where he has been... and didnt know what he was capable of or who may have bn following him! eek...

Just thought I would update even though I don't think anyone could be bothered reading such a long topic but on the news tonight the cops found another guy in the caravan who had been stabbed!!! funny that the dude that came banging on our door didnt utter a syllable about him I really want a fence now!! spec since hubby is away in the truck most of the time!
