39 weeks 3 days and cervix still posterior

posted 30th Dec '08
Uggg, I was in the hospital this past weekend with horrible horrrible drop you to your knees type pains that were coming and going like contractions. I was indeed contracting about every 3 mins but my cervix was not dialating, 3 days beofor that i had my doctor appointment and i was 2-3 cms and that is what I am still stuck at . My cervix is very posterior and she had a hard time checking me. I have another docotor appointment tomorrow and I'm praying my cervix has changed. I'm due on Saturday! Maybe he will strip my membranes or something to move things along. I'm so uncomfortable and still in a bit of pain whenI move around. I'm going to be pregnant forever!!

Good luck! My cervix was still posterior til I was in labor. It hurt like hell when I got checked. Hope you go into labor soon

Stripping your membranes won't do any good if your cervix is posterior, unfortunately. It actually might not do anything at all and with your cervix positioned the wrong way it can seriously hurt (it did with my daughter when my cervix was still posterior.)

Good luck! I hope you have a change soon! At least you're dilating :-)

yeah the nurse at the hospital has smaller fingers than the male doctor that checked me at my appointment and it still was cvery uncomfortable when she checked me. It HURT when HE checked me. It felt like she was sticking her hand so far up it was going to come out of my nose.

Yeah thats why I'm hoping my cervix has changed at bit so the possibility of him helping things along is a possibility. Ive heard stripping the membranes hurts a lot but it's probably different for everyone, depending on how your cervix is positioned and how ready it really is.

Exactly. I have a really high pain tolerance and the only thing I really can't handle is a doctor's hand ripping and poking at my cervix :-D

ugh i know what you mean. i got checked in triage by a male doctor that had short, chubby fingers. lol it took him forever to reach my cervix, then he kept talking about "how far he had to reach up there" afterwards. my fiance was really getting annoyed listening to him talk about having his hand up there. haha i'm sooooo glad all of that is over. i hope you have made some progress and have an easy labor!

My doc said stripping the membranes didn't hurt and she LIED!! It sucked so bad. I had them stripped last Friday. She said labor usually starts within 24 hours of that happening..but no such luck for me!
I also have an appt tomorrow...geez, I really hope she gives me good news.

It doesn't USUALLY start lol Your doctor is a liar lol It's really only a 50/50 chance. Your body isn't going to go into labor if it isn't ready to do so. Membranes stripped or not :-P

It means that the cervix is still pointing towards the back, so when they check you they have to reach far and behind the babys head to get to it. It has to come down more to be effective for labor.
