Breast infection

I have taken ty every 4 hrs and my fever went up to 103.0 I called the doc and she said it might be a breast infection and do NOT breastfeed she said to go to the ER... Dh said to wait until morning to see if my temp goes down.. gosh he makes me feel like its not a big deal.. Question is should I go anyways, its been this way off and on almost 3 days.. When is the fever too high? I have been drinking cold liquids and taking warm baths

i believe 103 is pretty high......

If symptoms of an illness are present:

• a temperature between 99.8° F - 100.8° F is considered a low-grade fever.
  
  a temperature between 101° F - 102° F is considered a mild fever.
  
  a temperature between 102° F - 103° F is considered a moderate fever.
  
  a temperature around 104° F or above is considered a high fever, and delirium or convulsions may occur.

Your physician may have different definitions of fever than these, and will provide guidelines for when to treat fever yourself and when to call the physician's office.


I would tell SO to shut up and go to the ER.

I would go. Mastitis can turn into sepsis which can kill you.

Why did she say not to breast feed. They usually say it helps to clear it up.
Also you can get an abcess which has to eb surgically drained. If you don't want that it's best to go in.

Sepsis is what killed my son. You definitely do not want that...

You need to go to the ER. 103 is a dangerous temp for an adult. Screw what your SO says, it is YOUR life in your hands, not his...

I went to the er and they said my breast had been ingored to much witch caused the high fever.. They didnt give me anything for my fever, witch I still have they just said keep Riley to the breast..well I havent sleep in 2 days and Dh will be at work all day until 1am ..gosh I just wanna cry.. This is where I wish i had my family here but they are 500 miles away
