rude?

do you think its rude to correct people when they spell your childs name wrong?
or do you feel its rude when someone corrects you because you spelled or said their childs name wrong?

my sons name is CONNOR. close friends and family KNOW its spelled CONNOR. but for some reason there's 3 or 4 of them that still spell it CONNER...even after correcting them...and they know it bugs me..so i don't know if they're doing it to tick me off or if they just don't care. should i keep correcting them or just leave it alone?

I always correct them with Alayna's name. A lot of people want to spell it Alaina or Alana or Elena.

If it's someone's name, especially your child's I'd correct them even if I have to brand it on their foreheads. Names should always be corrected IMO.

Leave it alone lady! There are much bigger fish to fry and some people just can't spell!I could care less how people spell my kids names, especially because if they are writing their names it is usually to give them a card or a gift.

Seriously, you can't let things like that get to you!

sometimes without thinking I can just put the word how it sounds... they probably didn't even notice their mistake even if they know the spelling..

however, I do correct my sister when she calls my son Jermiah instead of JerEmiah... I think she just talks to fast..

I'd keep correcting them....probably....my son's name is 'Alec' and people call him and spell his name as 'Alex'....it drives me crazy but I think it's a honest mistake since they sound alot alike.

people spell my name wrong all the time or think its Amanda....I have just learned to deal with it. I mean you can throw a fit about it, but doesnt mean thats going to make them spell it right.

well i correct people on my sons name they always call him Cameron but he is Cam'ron. i didnt leke the "er" sound lol but even my sister still writes cameron drives me mad sometimes lol x

I do, I still get annoyed when they spell my sons name 'Gabrielle' Yes, the female version only because Gabriel is spelled how it is pronounced!

i can understand that. without seeing it and just hearing it first i would do the same. it certainly is a different way to spell that name.
but my sons name is pretty simple...and i also went with the traditional irish way of spelling...conor is typical the first name connor is for the surname.

To me that's a little different, since it is a completely different name. People have called me "Mary" all my life, and my name is "Marie" spelled with two "r"s. I just answer to both now.

Because I lived my whole life with having my name misspelled and it's just a big pet peeve.

Well i dont think it's rude because you spell your kids names how you choose to spell them and it's for a reason lol. My son's middle name is CONNER and everyone always trys to spell it CONNOR lol! So we are in opposite situations haha
