IUD verus the pill

I need some sort of birth control but I really do not want to use the pill again. Does anyone have any info on IUD versusthe pill

I don't have any links...you can look them up separately and look at the pros/cons that way..

But what I know:
IUD is more effective
no daily reminder.
is good for 10 years
no added hormones

IUC is the mirena- there are hormones, good for 5 years...just as good


I got pregnant on the pill, just wasn't that effective with my body. Your decision. It works for a lot of women.

Thanks. I took the pill before my kids but I had such a hard time after the pill I wanted something a little more natural.

It depends on which IUD.

Mirena - I have heard of some negative side effects, but unlike the pill it just secretes a hormone into the uterus. Good for 5 years.

Paraguard - Copper IUD, thins uterine lining, can stop egg release, same as mirena but no chemical. Can last up to 10 years.

I have had my IUD for 4 months and had zero problems. I have a friend who had Mirena for 5 years and now has the paraguard. She is the one who got me on mine! The only downside is that I can't choose to skip a period or anything. It comes when it wants!
