Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

Hi ladies! I wanted to let everyone know about an awesome organization that I pray none of us ever need. Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (http://www.nowilaymedowntosleep.com) I am going to post their mission statement because I know no words I can saywill better describe what they do. As I stated before I pray none of us will ever need to make that phone call but if the needs arise please don't think twice to call for a friend of family member.

Pregnancy and birth are miraculous journeys. This amazing time of life is full of mystery, anticipation, joy, hope, and wonder. Feeling the powerful energy of birth and new life, watching as a new family is born unto each other. These things humble and amaze. These are the things that we celebrate when a baby is born.

But there is another aspect of pregnancy and birth. There is an unexpected place in this journey where some families may find themselves. When a baby dies, a world is turned upside down. There is confusion, sadness, fear, and uncertainty that cannot be explained. There is sorrow where there should have been joy. During this time, it might be impossible for families to know what they might need in order to heal in the future.

This is the place where the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation gently provides a helping hand and a healing heart. For families overcome by grief and pain, the idea of photographing their baby may not immediately occur to them. Offering gentle and beautiful photography services in a compassionate and sensitive manner is the heart of this organization. The soft, gentle heirloom photographs of these beautiful babies are an important part of the healing process. They allow families to honor and cherish their babies, and share the spirits of their lives.

The Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation (NILMDTS) administers a network of almost 6,000 volunteer photographers in the United States and twenty-five international countries. At a family's request, a NILMDTS Affiliated Photographer will come to your hospital or hospice location and conduct a sensitive and private portrait session. The portraits are then professionally retouched and presented to the families on an archival DVD or CD that can be used to print portraits of their cherished baby.
Our entire network of affiliated photographers graciously donate their time and talents to our families and we are proud to be able to offer our services at no cost.Your Donations are greatly needed and greatly appreciated.

That is a great idea! I will have to make one after the holiday though.

Great minds think alike! I am definitely making a donation (when the new bank card gets here, I lost mine AGAIN) and was already planning to do it in the memory of Mr. Gunner.

ETA: I was also very surprised to find so many photographers in my area. I pray that I never have to use it, but I looked just in case.

I was actually just going to make a post about this. Thank you Monica for doing so. This is a wonderful group of photographers and a wonderful organization. They are the reason I am still up on my feet. I have recieved moresupport from this website than I have ever experienced. Please, if you can, make a donation, if not they are always looking for new photographers or anyone that wants to help. Making blankets, booties, hats, little outfits, anything you can donate.
I am so very pleased and touched by this organization. I was told about them about a month after our childs diagnosis. I sent an e-mail to my area coordinator, hoping for a response back, but I didnt have high hopes. Within less than 2 hours I recieved a phone call from the sweetest, most heart-felt woman. She said she would be more than blessed to do our babies photo session. This organization is truly amazing.
Although I wish noone else ever have to use there services, they truly are the best as it can get. I just figured I would share my experience so far with the organization. I look forward to recieving my pictures.

How are you holding up?

It is an amazing thing they do! Who is Gunner though? Sorry I need to ask, I haven't been able to come in s&l much in the last month or so. It's been too hard

eta- Nevermind, I found him.  

I think NILMDTS is a wonderful organization.

I applied to be a photographer for them. It would be an honor work with such wonderful people!
