Just posting this, cuz it's easier then PMing the ladies who asked me, and incase anyone else wanted to know. (probly other threads with instructions too)
How to make a simple TuTu
Materials
Purchase 3 metres of tulle, (I like to get 3 colors)
1" wide elastic
and 2-3 metres of satin ribbon (in a color to match)
Instructions
1. First wrap the elastic around waist, do not stretch tightly, just nicely around waist.
add 1" for over lap.. and hand sew together.
2. Take you tulle and lay it out (easier if folded once in half-usually already like this from store)
Cut about 2" wide strips..(they do not have to be perfect, the less perfect the better...
once done, cut each strip in half at the seam for the fold.
do this for each color, I like to keep separate piles of each color.
3. Take one strip put it through the elastic hoop you created and tie in a knot (knot facing outwards)
you do not want to tie them extremely tight, this way they can slide a lil on the elastic.
continue alternating your colors until all the tulle is around the elastic,.. now you can slide things around to make it even out.
(note: sometimes I tie the tulle strip so one end it shorter then the other to give varying lengths to the tutu)
4. Now, take the ribbon, . and tie one end to the elastic, leaving enough end to create a bow later.. (only tying to hold in place)
and then wrap you ribbon through and around the elastic every few knots ..this gives it a finished detail and hides some of the knots.
When you get back to the beginning, untie the other end and create a pretty lil bow.
now you too have just made your own tutu for your favourite princess!!
Enjoy!
(i suggest storing it over something, I used a water jug.. so it doesn't get tooo wrinklely)
