re: How to start contractions?

All I'm going to say is wait until your baby is ready. I don't like being pregnant anymore either. But it's really not up to us

scrub the kitchen and bathroom floors, shower and tub on your hands and knees. That way if nothing happens at least you have a clean house. Be sure not to use any strong chemicals though.....

ask your doctor to check and see if your baby's lungs are fully developed
they can check by the fluids with a needle . my doctor checked last week and im now 37 weeks. he told me all the normally stuff to try and start labor . i've tried walking and knee bends so far. nothing yet though! i'm as anxious and ready as you are. GOOD LUCK!

i wish i knew, ive been trying but not getting anywhere. my doctor has told me to drink raspberry leaf tea min 4 times per day, 2 capsuls of EPO each night (inserted) ive done accupressure, walking, sex sex and more sex, cleaning ect. i was told by another doctor though that 6 mnths ago research found that the baby actually decides so you can use all the stuff out there to help your body do its job but until baby lets off some sort of "signal" you wont be successfull. good luck though

Ive been having contractions for 5 days straight! My nurse told me semen has a hormone in it that induces labor, but honestly ive had sex throughout my whole pregnancy. My contractions started on their own because I havent had sex this whole week. I will say an excersice ball has helped to lower my son so hes way down low in my pelvic bone! which prepares you for labor. Just wait these suckers are killing me!

Quoting ~AiDeN's*MoMmY~:" um... 37 weeks! WAIT! baby will come when ready! gzz u ladies and ur selfishness! sry"

I don't think it is selfish to want the baby to come early. I am 37 weeks as well and am very ready for my little one to be here. I have been walking and cleaning house like crazy. I don't think that there is any thing wrong with helping your labor along as long as you are not doing any harm to the baby or yourself. Go for it!!!

I would love it if people would answer a persons question. She didn't ask for your opinion on to wait or not to wait. Go post your high and mighty stuff somewhere else. As for the question at hand... Spicy food is helpful in getting contractions started, but does nothing for dilation. Your husband can play a roll in that. Semen actually can soften the cervix. And the good news is an orgasm can also help with contractions. There are other things, gross things that can help too, but I'd try a nice spicy meal and romantic evening first.

Can totally relate to waning bubs to come around the 37/38 week mark. For myself I'm pregnant with twins and my doc said that anywhere between 34 & 38 weeks is normal for twins and they'd be without complications.
At the moment I'm 36 weeks and 6 days and will be induced at 38 if they haven't arrived on their own. Which is why I looked up this post to begin with. I'd rather they came on their own than have to be induced.
No one can know another's reasons, or what's the full story of someone's questions so don't be so judgemental. I'm carrying two aprox 7lbs babies (well over safety weight) and am finding it difficult to do very medial tasks and have a two yr old at home, so as long as its safe to deliver...... I'd love to right now!
S oback to the question.... Anyone have any other Non-Judgemental suggestions??
