It's not that bad don't worry. If you don't have a severe case of it you'll be fine. They say to help with the symptoms of it losing weight can help if you're overweight. Sometimes birth control is prescribed for the cysts if you have them. As far as pregnancy goes you can go on Clomid to help out and they help you with certain medications that will help you be able to carry the baby. Just talk it over with your doctor and tell him/her everything you think they should know. They will help you with the best form of treatment. I still dont' know if I have it but I think I have a mild case of it.

Hi gals
I'm having some problems and I am looking for advise below is a copy of another post I made which no one is responding to. My sister works as an LPN at a gynos office and believes I may have pcos but I don't have insurance so I am stuck with the local health department who doesn't seem to want to answer my questions. Does the below sound like anything you have experienced.?

My DH and I have been TTC since late August ( I know that's not very long) but we seem to be having problems. A little bit of background. I had regular cycle as far as I know untill I started birth controll two years a go. I had to many problems to count after starting it and going thru several diffrent pills. I was horribly nausouse on one had extreme cramps on another and didn't have periods on another the whole time I took it(6 months) then was changes to the final type which I had bleeding for 14 days with horrible pain which basically kept me bed ridden I was told by the local health dept that it was a rupturing cyst I also spoke to a friend of my sisters( a gyno) who said that it did in fact sound like a rupturing cyst. That has happened three times since jan once was just before my last thought to be period. I have been doing ovulation test for the last two months the first month I just tested from CD 12 untill my period then this month I tested from last day of my period to the first day of this period. Non of the test showed ovulation. But I did have CM which I thought to be caused by Oing. My biggest fear is not having the ability to have children. What do u all think is goin on? Has anyone seem this before?

You actually do seem to have some signs of PCOS. My doc ,well one of them, says I have it while another says no. The only signs I had was the cyst on the right ovary and a bit of facial hair. Other than that I've had normal hormones, normal periods, and have ovulated on my own. But with PCOS you can have anovulatory cycles or cycles where your LH surge is longer than normal. It seems you're having no surge. You can have CM even though you don't ovulate. I've had it at times where I thought I was ovulating and never did. You could possibly have it. Not saying you do. But I'd find a way to get it checked.

I have PCOS and I have never had a cyst burst but I also have three kids whom I conceived easily. Having a cyst on your your ovary doesn't mean you have PCOS and it can be quite tricky to diagnose. Are you overweight? Do you have facial hair or any other "dude" hair as my doc so awesomely put it? lol If you are having cysts on your ovaries that can be what is causing you not to ovulate but it doesn't necessarily have to be PCOS. Cysts interfere with the communication between your ovaries and your body releasing an egg on the side that isn't affected. I think you said you have regular periods?? But irregular periods is also a sign. My periods are more regular now ever 5-6 weeks but before going on metformin my periods wer 7-9 weeks all over the place. I'm not sure if that was any help. Good luck!

I've had two cysts before. The one that was removed this August and once when I was pregnant with my 5 year old. One of the docs that saw me before my surgery says I have PCOS. The doc who did my surgery said she sees no reason why he would say such a thing. I've also gotten preggo 3 times. I have two children, I miscarried in December of last year with my third so I think some doctors throw around PCOS too easily to some people. I just wish there was an easier way of diagnosing it because you hear a lot of docs say maybe or possibly have it.

from what I've been told, and researched, people with PCOS don't have problematic cysts that cause pain, severere bleeding and require removal. they are not that kind of cyst but rather several small follicles that never matured enough to release the egg inside. Docs will often refer to these as a "string of pearls" because of how they look inside the ovary. PCOS can also exist without the cystic ovaries. the polycystic ovaries that are present in PCOS sufferers are typically very small and because of that, they do not cause pain and will not require surgery.

Yea I've heard that too and that is why the one doctor who suggested I have it seems less credible to me. Since the doc who did my surgery as well as the doctor who delivered my son both say no I think I'd believe them since they saw what my ovaries and stuff looks like from the inside. The only thing I have is when I ovulate (which I just started doing again since the surgery) is that I have some harsh pain in my right ovary. It's just that ovary too but the doctor who did my surgery said that ovary looks good so maybe it's just I have a very active follicle. Not sure. But other than that, the hair on my face has slowed down in growth. It's not like it used to be so I'm wondering if my hormones did get out of wack for a bit and are getting back to normal. I hope so. Cuz when I was normal it took us only 2 months to get preggo. I hope it doesn't take too long this time. It'll be a year next month we've been tryin since the MC in December.

it's a frusterating ordeal thats for sure...not only with trying to figure out if you have pcos or not, but just the hundreds of other things that can interfere with good fertility...it makes me feel like women that can get pregnant if a man looks at her the wrong way must be really lucky cause theres so many things that could cause infertility! I feel like it is a miracle i'm pregnant at all...I have at least 4 different things messing up my fertility...pcos, hypothyroidism, endometriosis, and a poor uterine wall on one side.(the doc said if the egg tries to stick to that side it may not stay) I don't ovulate on my own, my periods are a mess without BC pills, and i'm convinced I have problems with my cervical mucus always being thick and not ideal for sperm travel. Geesh! I really hope luck shines on you soon...it's happened for you before, it can happen again! I read something about pcos women having a better chance as they get older oddly enough, i guess cause hormones start to change as you age and improve for getting pregnant

I have a question for some of you with confirmed or possible pcos. I know they say women with PCOS have a higher level of LH in their system than a normal female. Does this higher level show when it's time to ovulate or just radomly? Because on the 22nd I got a positive opk and the right sided pains I almost always get with ovulation. Well it's now the 27th and I'm still getting positive opks. I've never had this problem before. I don't know what's going on. I don't know if the egg is having trouble getting out and dying so another egg is trying to mature to get out or what.

yeah i'm pretty sure opks are usless for women with pcos...the whacked out hormones and LH surges when no ovulation has occured make it hard to tell what is going on. you can have high LH all the time I believe. I once tried an opk cause my CM fluid looked good (the slippery clear egg whitey kind) and it said I was ovulating...I wasn't

Wow. My hormone levels are normal. They were all taken before my surgery in August. My cycles are also regular. My opk finally became negative after I felt a slight pop in my right ovary area. I was sure my egg popped through then and when I got home from work I tested and sure enough the test had lightened. So maybe it was just a prolonged ovulation which I have read can happen from time to time. First time ever for me. I usually just have 2-3 days of positive opks. I usually catch the surge from very beginning to end. The only time I get positives is when I get the other symptoms too. Increased wetness, twinges in ovaries, and feeling excited all the time if you know what I mean. So I'm still trying to figure out if the doc was right and I do have it when almost all the things I have or don't have say otherwise. I don't think I have it. My last ob/gyn would have confirmed it as she did my c-section with my 5 year old and has seen me off and on for years.

wow you could feel your egg "popping" out? lol, I know some women can feel ovulation....I never felt anything different ever, hardly any pms or menstration symptoms either...I was totally clueless as to whether i was ovulating or not each month. Even when they got me to ovulate with clomid + HCG trigger shot each month I still didn't feel different....except maybe ONE time I thought I felt crampy in my ovaries a while after the shot. I also did progesterone supps every month during the 2ww....I probably don't produce enough progesterone either...I must have lazy hormones   I'd be curious to know how long I've had problems, but after being on birth control for 10 years it's hard to know

Yea it was weird. I've actually never really felt it do that before. Before I knew when the egg released because the pain in my ovary would lessen considerably so that was my indication that the egg popped through finally but this cycle was different. I actually literally felt a pop in my right ovary and after it did that I felt relief in that area. It's wasn't like a cyst rupture but the egg. That is how I knew to take a test when I got home and it would be negative and sure enough it was. This cycle is a crazy one. Now my boobs are sore, feel bigger, and I am noticing veins in my boobs are more visable. They say it's early signs of pregnancy but I'm only 5dpo so I know this can't be it. I'd like to know if I have any problems that haven't been diagnosed since it's taken me so long to get pregnant. I mean my daughter and first son are 7 years apart. I've been on bc on and off since I had her so I could have gotten preggo at anytime and didn't. Then I didn't get preggo again until my son was almost 5 with the baby we lost in December. So it's taking me a while to get preggo. I don't know why the docs are saying everything is normal with me.
