Quoting Snurrie:" Thanks Holtsprinzess & Katie&Clay's Mommy! I don't think I have many symptoms of PCOS either ... [snip!] ... old dusty eggs to expel before getting to the good ones that's another thing about PCOS, you suffer from poor egg quality."
Quoting seattlemama3 *NMD*:" I'm on Metformin and I haven't gotten pregnant yet. The reason they give you Metformin is because the ... [snip!] ... weight so I haven;t lost any weight. Good luck ladies! I just started Clomid and I'm hoping it's the boost my body needed "I was on met way before i got pregnant with preston, i was completely fine takin 500mg 2x a day...until they upped it to 850mg 2x a day is when i stopped taking it. Met can help with weight loss, but not always.

Quoting Holtsprinzess:" <blockquote><b>Quoting Katie & Clay's Mommy!:</b>" Well ladies I can say metformin ... [snip!] ... have heard not working for weight loss or anything else. Can it have anything to do with you stoping the metformin in your own?"
Quoting Holtsprinzess:" <blockquote><b>Quoting Katie & Clay's Mommy!:</b>" Whether I stopped it on my own ... [snip!] ... I hope it works out for you.I tried to do some looking to and couldn't find anything either.Keep us updated."

Quoting Katie & Clay's Mommy!:" Oh I found something just now and let me tell you I am not happy. I told my doc I had normal periods ... [snip!] ... this and next month because my cycle was out of wack this month and it will probably stuggle to get back on track next month."I have been researching this a bit because I think it's odd that they just put you on it with no further testing. I never had a fasting blood test or anything. I got diagnosed with PCOS and I did ask to go on it but it was because everyone else seemed to go on it when they got a diagnosis. I am not overweight and I have easily had 3 kids without trying. I don't know if it's because I'm getting older and it's getting worse or if it got worse from my miscarriage. You can have PCOS and have normal periods. You can have normal ultrasounds and have PCOS and you can have a normal blood test for hormones and blood sugar and still have PCOS. That being said I think now that it's being talked about more and it can be hard to diagnose I think docs just say I think it's PCOS because it's easy. From my research most docs put you on metformin immediately. For me once I got on Met my cycles became more regular. but not 28 days more like 5-6 weeks instead of up to 9 weeks. When I talked to my pharmacist she said that it will not do anything for you if you don't need it. It cannot lower your blood sugar. Met has no direct correlation with your hormones either. Most women that have PCOS have a hard time processing carbohydrates. Which is where the insulin resistance comes in. When your body is having a hard time controlling your insulin it makes you over produce testosterone and then your body over produces estrogen to make up for it. ( might have gotten those flipped) I'm not sure where your LH is effected in there. Theoretically Met should not effect your LH if you do not need Met. I hate putting foreign things in my body so taking a daily medication is very hard for me. I hope you're period starts and I'm sorry that everything is so whacked out. Have you had other cysts in the past? If you have another that could also be messing with you ovulation. I'm sure you know that though Just out of curiosity what dosage were you on. Also I have heard of women taking up to 6 months after cyst removal to be back to normal. I know few people that had normal periods after surgery then have irregular periods for a few months then back to normal. I can't remember when you had your surgery???

[snip!] ... after surgery then have irregular periods for a few months then back to normal. I can't remember when you had your surgery??? "I had my surgery Aug. 20th. I've had two normal periods since having my surgery. My period actually started on time just two days after my surgery so even that didn't mess with the days between my cycle. I'm not saying it's not possible to affect it still but I don't know. I was on 500mg of it. She said once I got used to it I can up it to 1000mg. So I did. I have had a fasting blood test right before my surgery. Everything came out normal. That is another reason why I don't think I should have been on it. I don't like the idea they can throw around a diagnosis like this when they're not sure. I have had one cyst in the past and that was when I got pregnant for my 5 year old. That was it. Just that one cyst. Never had any type of problems other than that. Like I said normal periods, ovulation every month on my own, two successful pregnancies, and normal hormones. If I had PCOS I would think I'd have some type of issue that would work against me interfering with my periods and ovulation. It wasn't up until I got on the met. that I didn't ovulate when before I did each month. The doc who put me on it only put me on it to help me lose weight because I told her that the other doc said I had PCOS. She didn't do any further test because she's not an ob. She just took my and the doc's word. I get so many conflicting info about met. that it isn't funny. But the one thing I'm not getting is the answers I'm looking for. But I go see my ob on the 29th so I will know if my body goes back or tries to go back to normal. My period should be coming around the 20th.
