Hi Mama's!!

I have been on Gaga since Dec 06 and never knew this thread was here.

My name is Christina. I am 24, married with 1 beautiful little boy. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 04 right after I got married and had my first mc. Did metformin and bc for awhile . Then gave up. After almost 3 years conceived our son naturally. Since he has been born I have had 0 issues with my PCOS until last month. Now it is in full swing again. I have an appt at 2:30 today. I feel like I am dying with cramps but only have small spotting.

I didn't realize my reason for not being able to lose all this weight was my PCOS so I am going to talk to my doc about that as well. Wish me luck ladies.

Hi and welcome. You are not the first to think oh my PCOS has gone away. That's something doctors don't seem to tell their patients. But there is NO cure, it does NOT just go away. If you go untreated you are more susseptable to female cancers and also your symptoms can boom out of control as mine are. once they are out of control there is no going back.

God luck momma.

Just got back.
She put me on Metformin and BC. Going back in 2 weeks for more testing to check all my levels. Then she said she would prescribe me weight loss help. Going to start WW with the help of another lady on here. She thinks my acne will clear with the met and bc.

Good luck with all of it. I was on 2 different weight loss pills yrs. back. i did real well on Redux (now pulled off market). But as with any products like that. After you stop taking them even though I worked out and ate right i still gained it all back. With this dang PCOS alwasy messing with the mitabolism and all it's hard to find anything to help. i have yet to find anything and been battling this since at least 1986.

Hey ladies!
I was just diagnosed with PCOS last month after discovering that my mom has it. I don't really know a whole lot about it, I've been doing research but it doesn't look like anyone really knows a lot about it. I have one daughter, got pregnant with her while on BC. My gyno thinks that I only got pregnant with her because I wasn't taking the BC correctly so it probably evened my hormones out enough to cause me to ovulate. In my life, I've only had a period on my own like 3 times, and each time it was light spotting for weeks at a time, so since my AF is pretty much non exsistant, my gyno put me onprogesterone so I can TTC. I finished my 10 days on 11/2/09 and since then I haven't even seen a hint of spotting. While on the meds I spotted days 7-9 and then stopped and now nothing. Since I haven't started I've been doing one of those daily ovulation tests, and so far there's nothing. It's just frustrating, and I can't get ahold of my doctor, we're military so it's very hard to get in to see her plus we're on a small army post.
I wanted to ask if anyone that's been on progesterone has had odd symptoms, like hot flashes, migranes, dizziness... things like that, and if it's normal?

I was on it for years and had all kinds of tummy issues. I just recently switched to Actos and have no issues at all. The only thing is that it is expensive.

The only thing I have been on to get my AF was provera. I am now on metformin since my diagnosis in 2003 and that is what got my AF for me. She is now pretty much 28 days every month.

I listed a couple sites on the 1st pg. of this thread that are real helpful. but you can also google PCOS and it brings up tones of things!

I was put on met. in 2003 when diagnosed and have never gone off it (even thru my pregnancy). Yes, It rumbles the tummy and causes me to have diarreaha non-stop. I think the last solid #2 I had was before starting the met. in 2003. Sorry TMI but trying to be honest with you. I lost like approx. 50 lb. when I first got on it. Now it just maintains my weight for the most part. I still have issues with it. But I was also told that it could be that most of us that have PCOS also have IBS too.

I asked about the actos but my RE said it can cause constipation and might cause me to gain weight. I sure didn't/don't need that!
