False alarm......frustrating

posted 15th Oct '06
This is my 2nd pg & I am 36 wks 2 days today and really eager to be done with this pregnancy. I tried to roll over in bed this morning at 3:22 am and had a gushing sensation of fluid, and thought for sure my water had broke. I got up, went into the bathroom, sat down on the toilet and even had fluid come out that wasn't urine. So, I called the hospital and told them about it and they had me go in. Well, I get there and wasn't having any more fluid leak so they tested me to make sure it was amniotic fluid. Both tests said nope. So their only explanation of what the fluid was was a fore sac or pocket that ruptured buy sealed itself off again. I am having sparatic contractions, not painful yet, and I am dialated to 1 cm. They sent me back home, and when I got in the car I just bawled. I have had two really rough pregnancies back to back, and really thought today was the day. I am so disappointed it's not, and I still have to wait. Has anyone else had to go into the hospital and be sent back home???? It's so frustrating!!!

Oh man, I am so sorry! That's my worst fear.. the hospital here is known for sending you home (after giving you drugs to stop slow labor)! They have a small maternity ward, so they send you home if it's not serious and they need the room.. ugh.

I haven't gone into labor yet, but I had two friends just have babies within the last two months and they both were sent home multiple times from the ER. They were so upset and frustrated, and I don't blame them!!

I understand how frustrating that can be, but just hang in there!! If one sac has already ruptured, then surely true labor isn't far off! Just hang in there and remember that each day your baby is still inside you is a day for his/her lungs to get that much stronger!! That helps me get by each day without going crazy wondering when I'm gonna go into labor.

I was lucky I didn't go in until my contractions were 5 minutes apart........I'm not going to the hospital the second my water breaks, because that doesn't mean you'll have the baby right away........My water didn't break, I went to the hospital when I was 7 cm.......My mom kept me calm and told me "We are only 10 min from the hospital, don't stress" Babies take time to come out!! lmao

Good luck but I can feel your frustration!!

I was sent home on friday. I was having contractions 20 minutes apart and it seemd like they were getting closer.

Since the hospital is 1 hr away, I wanted to go...Well we get there, the contractions slow down to 2 per hour, they had me walk, and said I am only 1 CM dialated. It really sux I know   i was so excited!

Hang in there Nov_Mommy2be...you're almost there!

I hear u babes, in my last pregnancy, braxton hicks gave me the run around, they were soo painful n they were regular, but my waters didn't break n cos i was not dialating they sent me home twice! I did cry cos it was sooo frustrating eventually, i did go into labour, my waters never broke, but i did have a show, i refused to go hospital for 26 hours as they were not regular enough despite the pain n i didn't want to be sent home again. so finally i get to the hospital n guess what? i was only 3cm dialated n they wanted to send me home yet again, i was furious, i demanded pain relief on the spot n said i was not going anywhere, 6 hours later my son was born.

With my first two, I went to the hospital at least three times with contractions that were five minutes and less apart, and even though it was only two weeks early, they gave me drugs to stop them. With my first, they gave me drugs to stop it a week before my due date, and an hour later I was back in, my water broke, and all that great stuff. Sorry today wasn't the day for you.   Soon though, k? I had two pregnancies literally back to back, so know the frustration.

It has now been 1 full week since I thought my water broke. I ended up having contractions all day last Sunday that got to the point were they were 3 1/2 mins. apart and lasting about 90 secs. I went to bed Sunday night and woke up Monday morning with nothing. I saw the dr. that morning and I had completely stopped having contractions, and all of the dialation progress I made had stopped and went back to 0! I couldn't believe it! I was so sure that it was going to happen within a couple days, but nope. I am still 100% pregnant and ready to pop!!

I didn't quite clarify before, but I am positive for group b and I called the hospital when I thought my water broke and told them my specific situation. They wanted me to go down. I didn't just think "oh, water broke, time to go". With my last pg I didn't start contracting on my own after my water broke. They waited almost 6 hours, and then finally gave me pitocin. So with being group b positive, you are supposed to be put on meds right away since the length of labor/delivery is unpredictable. I also live 45 mins. away from the nearest hospital, so that is a decent factor.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I really appreciate it. I have 2 wks 5 days to go, and am eagerly awaiting it to fly by!!
