im back lmao!
i'm trying to find info online about the sunshine carseat.. the radian sunshine.
im worrying now b/c T is growing so damn fast and the safety 1st air rfing limits are 40 lbs and 40 inches.
he's already 33 inches at 15 month appt , his next appt is this month but im guessing hes 34-35 ish inches tall now b/c i can tell he got taller.

does the radian sunshine have a higher height limit for rear facing ?
i cant find the height limit online only the weight limit which i know is 45 lbs rfing.

The Radian and the Complete Air's shells are almost the same if I remember right. Generally, a RF seat will be outgrown RF by height where there is less than 1" of hard shell above you child's head, shown here:
http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=30201

However, the Complete Air states in the manual that the seat is outgrown RF when the head is even with the headrest, which extends about 2" over the top of the shell. Now some people aren't comfortable with this and use the 1" rule with the shell, not the headrest. Some follow the 40" stated in the manual. It's all depending on what you feel comfortable with. I personally would keep my son RF until he is even with the headrest as I believe that they have tested it this way. Lindzy might have a different opinion though (which I hope she'll shard) In my opinion, the CA is likely to be outgrown by weight first, which is pretty rare. My oldest was well above the 50lb weight limit of mine at 7 years old but still fit in the harness forward facing.

It would be however tall your child is. Height is such a grey area because some kids carry their height in their torso, some in the legs. Kids with longer torsos will outgrow seats faster than kids that are the same height with longer legs.

ah this is all so confusing lol. i remember when i was super young like 18 babsitting a little boy the mom said just buckle the seat in and put him in O_o
i think back and realize how half ass it all was and he wasn't really safe and was ff and was about my sons age probably even younger
now since it's my baby i researched everything and it's so much harder !

Yes, there is a lot of stuff to this now. I didn't know anything with my oldest and just followed what the carseat box said, like lots of other parents. I did have the seat installed tightly and harness tight because it said it in the manual, but I definitely went by bare minimums until he was about 5. Then I started researching this stuff and put him back in the harness until he was 7. I'm very glad that I didn't have to learn the hard way!

he's 17 months old. i think he's grown like 1-2 inches since 15 months. he's got an appt soon so i'll find out exactly.
at 15 months he was 33 inches but since then i've had to pull the head thing up some on his car seat so i know for sure he's grown 1-2 inches already

the skr's internal seat height is 25inches, the complete air is 27.5 so the shell is taller.
Its going to depend on the child, does your child have longer legs shorter torso? or shorter legs longer torso? lol

And yes the 40 inch guideline on the CA is just a guideline, they have to put something but as andie explained no two kids are exactly the same. The CA states it can be used to the top of the seat for rfing, I personally would never recommend going past the general 1inch of shell ruling that we use for other seats.......the child needs that 1 inch for the ramping that will occur. If it were an overseas seat I'd say differently.

its been a long day and i cant remember, what vehicle is this Teagans mommy?

Quoting Teagan's Mommy*OKGFB*:" actually not 17 months b/c i used my old car most of that time. maybe 3 months now parent fail  "

oh wait you had the 92 pontiac ......look at the link below, is that what the interior of your backseat looks like? if it is then i would say stick with the CA, you would have a hard time installing the radians with seatbelts like you've described, the radian install is tricky on many cars, and usually its about 50/50 on whether or not it will fit correctly. The majority of installs I've seen online people don't have it in correct but think that they do. ....but its incompatible with many cars.
You would def. have issues with a middle install, it'd have to go on a side position, you'd have to use a locking clip, and it would be a pain in the tush IMO.
