I don't have insurance that covers maternity and I am really stressed out about how I am going to afford all of this. I make about 50 dollars too much a month to qualify for state aid and no one will insure me since I am already pregnant. My fiance jokes about marrying me so I can get on his insurance but it may not be a bad idea... unfortunately I do not think his insurance will allow me to go on since I have a "pre-existing" condition. I have no idea how much I have already spent on doctors visits but I am afraid to see. I think I have looked at all the options and I think we are going to have to pay for this out of pocket. Anyone have suggestions... anyone tried those discount cards that are out there?

I'm a hairstylist so I don't get coverage through work...(its too expensive for the company since we're all women and they would have to cover pregnancy...go figure!) and I've just gotten a $2,000 doctor bill from my first visit. I've applied for public aid, but haven't been accepted yet. They've just sent me a letter saying they're reviewing my application. Does anyone know how long this process takes? I'm getting stressed over it...=/

Well we found one!!! They'll cover 80% of our medical needs for about $149 a month..and it comes with $15,000 life insurance for my husband...$10,000 for me...and $5,000 for every child. O and there's no deductiable. SOOOOOO my question is.....does this sound good???? this is our 1st child and we're both 20...so we've never done this whole health insurance thing b4 so i need some guidance.

I worked until my job found out I was pregnant at 6 months, and I got fired. So now I have to pay for my own insurance..at 353.00 a month, thats w/o dental. It's miserable, I was going to go on medicaid but my mom is a nurse and she told me that it's better to have actual insurance, and that makes sense to me because around here if you have medicaid you are only accepted at certain hosps, and medicaid chooses which one you have to go to. However, even w/insurance I still had to pay my doctor my 1000.00 deductable plus what insurance wouldn't cover, plus labs. If I pay this much w/insurance I hate to think of the 47 million Americans w/o health insurance. It's about time we had socialized medicine..

I am 20 and pregnant (going on 16 weeks). I was thankful to get health insurance through my state. I live in Connecticut. I will say though getting it was not easy!! I fought with a woman from Department of Social Services... For whatever reason she insisted to say I made too much money which was completely inaccurate. I had to go through a meeting basically and bring in every little pay stub, my past health issues, all of my own birth certificate drivers license etc... It was a huge pain. I ended up getting the best health insurance in the state of connecticut. I do not pay any monthly premium and they cover all of my doctor's visits and pregnancy expenses.

I did IUI to get pregnant, and had HPN (Health Plan of Nevada) and they were great through the getting pregnant process, but once you get pregnant they don't cover maternity. So I call them and see if I can add it to my policy. I'm toldin the state of Nevada if you are pregnant and already have insurnace (even if it does not cover maternity) you cannot change your insurnace plan. Then she stated... it doesn't make a difference anyway because there is a 12 month waiting period, and the cheapest insurance they had is 450.00 a month! Medicade.... here I come!

I am currently trying to find a good health insurance! I have done alot of research and am still lost!!! I have had 3 miscarriages and had medicaid all 3 times, but my husband is making a lot more money and we are not going to qualify anymore. I also want to find a health insurance that will cover a percentage of fertility treatments if needed...after 3 miscarriages we may have to turn to fertility in the future and I want to be prepared for that. I have heard people say that their insurance partially paid for the fertility treatments. If anyone knows a good insurance please let me know! It is not offered through my husbands job

We pay just shy of $200/month for the military's TRS program insurance, which is really pretty good in comparison to commercial insurance plans and the pharmacy benefits are awesome. Considering we have 3 kids now, expecting 1 more and he's the only one working for an income...we still manage the house and car payment without government assistance. We'd probably qualify for it if I chose to apply, but I figure I chose to have the kids, to buy the house, to drive the car...why should you pay for it?

I'd never heard of insurance companies paying for fertility treatments...not to say it doesn't ever happen, just haven't encountered that. Good luck to you!

I know that they do not pay for all of it, but I have come across several women that have their insurance pay for a percentage of it.

Just when i was thinking i was the only person with this insurances/medicaid issues. after they received all my documents, my case worker wouldn't even give me a call to tell me that after all that she needed an id (she returned my call just after i left 5 voice-mails), we faxed the id over 4 times, also i mailed a copy of my id to her office, few days later i get a letter indicating that i was being denied because i didn't send my id in time, the worst part is that i need to go to court to appeal that decision?. I don't know what to do.

anybody from Ohio? i need so advice.

Good luck and Greets.
