i am so glad to know that im not the only one that thinks insurance is CRAZY!!!! Me and my boyfriend both have good jobs with paid insurance, i work for a city and he works for a county. but the problem is my insurance has a $3000 deductable!! i was like omg.... how can i afford this! i mean when we talked about it and figured it out we would actually be better off if i quit my job and went on medicade! thats STUPID! i dont want to have to do that im paying at least 150 every two weeks for dr appts i mean yeah i can do that now but i cant do that through the whole preg still save money and be able to get everything that we need for the baby plus when i go on maternity leave its not paid! so i HAVE to pay the 300 before i go on it and who knows when that will be! oh its just so crazy.....

one thing though ladies yes we all have problems with immigration. no matter where u live how poor or rich your country is no matter what insurance or dr or any of that stuff is there we ALL have that problem. so why argue about it or try to think that we have to have a pissing contest? it sucks for everyone we are all prego and SO frustrated about insurance   cant we all be friends

hello everyone..Hopefully this may be a bit helpful for all you american citizens..

I live in Canada, and just previously read that out Health care leader is actually meeting with Obama, to talk to him about bringing healthcare programs to his country(the us)like the ones we have here in canada.....Hope you guys get the new healthcare program. You healthcare system is not acceptable..No matter what, expecting ladies should have coverage and treatment. You shouldnt have to pay for it. But you will out of your taxes if it passes.

no one would have given you health coverage (with a new plan or provider) anyway because you're already pregnant. I tired that. I had to get medicaid also. I was told straight up, no one will offer you coverage while you're pregnant.... Medicaid is the shit though. Don't have to pay for prescriptions (prenatals are free) no co-pays everything is free!!! I like it!I also am able to have my baby and see my OB at one of the best hospitals in the southeast Emory Crawford Long so I'd have to say I'm happy no one would accept me : )

medicaid is the best! Everything is FREE! NO CO-PAYS! I didnt have insurance because they dropped me from my mother's when I turned 24 and since I wasn't in school anymore and I worked 2 PT jobs that didnt offer insurance to non full-time employees so I had to get medicaid. I'm really glad I did actually it's great! I get to see a fantastic doctor and dont pay for shit! I will probably keep this after my son is born as well and put him on it too!

the income limits drop much lower after they drop you from prenatal medicaid. My daughter gets it til shes a year old and then we'll have to reapply. they dropped me off of it at 2 months post partum.

well, I dont exactly make a lot of money right now as it is and my boyfriend got laid off. Thank GOD he has savings but 2009 hasn't been the best year for us besides my son comming in August. I work but its nothing that my BS qualifies me for. Hopefully after the baby is born I can actively search for something better. I want to find something now but no one will hire me seven months pregnant.

I am pretty sure that you are not eligible for medicaid if you already have insurance.....that would kinda defeat the purpose...

depending on your income yes you can qualify for both. Medicaid will pay what your other insurance doesn't cover. Thats what they told me anyway

My insurance didn't cover maternity because I was a dependent, so i got dropped off it and am getting medicaid. Just my very first appointment alone was 600$!!!!! If anyone thinks they'll be able to pay for the whole pregnancy bills without insurance or medicaid they're crazy! That is unless your pretty rich already, it's just sooo expensive to have to pay out of your own pocket! Medicaid is my hero!

this topic reminds me of my home ec teacher talking go me as if having medicaid is wrong. she was like, "oh do you think its nice that my tax money is going to your insurance?" i know im a teen and it was a bit irresponsible to get pregnant at my age but atleast i had a job and i try to do things for my self.. but im sure even if i wasnt a teen it would be hard to have a private insurance especially with the economy like this.. but yea, for the people who are trying to apply for medicaid, dont rely on just the internet application, sometimes that takes months to be approved. i got mines quick because i went to the health department and applied personally. its better cuz you schedule an appointment to talk with an agent usually by the next week. hope this helps =]
