I thought it was $500-$700 a month for Cobra insurance?? I currently have TriCare because my husband's in the military, but he decided not to re-enlist before I found out I was pregnant. Now I have until July 3rd to find out how I'm gonna be able to be covered. Any info you can give me on Cobra would be awesome!

I read the article above. I was told that pregnancy is a pre-existing condition when I tried to get private insurance. I now have applied for Medicaid. My doctors accepts it and this is good. It's been about 2 weeks since I sent the application but I havn't heard anything yet. I guess I need to call.... bleh, good luck to me trying to get through....

I dont suggest the maternity card. I had a REALLY bad experience with them. I had it for the first month of my pregnancy and they did absolutely nothing to help me. I had to pay $200 upfront (non-refundable) and they never helped getting me a doctor or anything. I finally cancelled, I soon got insurance from my husband with Kaiser.

It's like insurance only they make the amount of having a child affordable in monthly payments. they cover the doctor visits, the labor, everything. here is the link. I was told it was the best kind of insurance when you couldn't afford any. but at signing up they told me i had to cough up $200 for signing up which wasn't refundable, they kept repeating over and over that this wasn't insurance when they tell you it is, they give you the complete run around and don't assist you. I basically paid them to sit and do nothing. I wouldn't use them again. It might of been only MY issue and everyone else who's tried it got lucky. But I highly don't recommend them. just my opinion.

I had never heard of it before. Fortunately I qualify for medicaid and it was been wonderful with coverage so far.

I hear ya.
I was treated amazing at the hospital I was at... I had a nurse by my side the whole time and had to have an emergency c section. I didn't see one medical bill. I couldn't imagine trying to figure all that stuff out,

for my first son I tried to get medicaid and they denied me saying that my mother made too much..but the thing was I wasn't on her insurance plan and she didn't make anything when she had 3 other children to care for. So now I have all the medical bills that I didn't pay for in collections. I was about 8 months prego when I did get on my mothers insurance and the only thing that paid for was the 2 doc visits and part of the hospital stay. There was a mix up at the pre-registration(stupid lady) she told us that we only had to pay a total of 150 75 a night and that after that the insurance would cover the rest..WRONG...3 weeks later I got a bill saying that I owed 750 for the hospital stay and even though I called to fix all that they said that just because she messed up that they weren't going to fix it...they SUCK...after having my second a month ago I haven't recieved any bills because I got medicaid...since I turned 18 I moved out of my moms and got an apartment with my man and we applied...although he felt that he wasn't good enogh for us because we had to go on medicaid.."I told him that we just don't make enough mone to cover all the costs and we have jobs...we just have jobs that don't pay what we need..so we pay our taxes to recieve it." they told us that we would only get it up to a year after my baby was born...but we have no bills and medicaid covered it...but now they say that you can't get cirsumsized...my son did!...BOth my sons are and I didn't do it at the hospital I did it at my docs...She told me that because medicaid doesn't cover it she can say that it is whatever she wants it to be and charge whatever she wants..so that just depends on your doc..mines is kool!
