Let me pick your brain.

Yes. Against my own dislike of politics, I still want to know.

I want to know why you voted for who you voted for. Please, don't give me the "Antichrist" or "he's too old" stuff. I want solid things here. Like, Obama can do this, but McCain won't, or vice versa. This is the first time I'm taking an interest in politics, so, please don't kill it for me.

I am voting for Obama for many reasons.

I think that the middle class need tax breaks, not more for the rich and for corproations. Trickle down economics has not been working, or trickling down, and i think it is time to find a better balance.

We need to do something about healthcare, and while I dont LOVE Obama's plan, I find it far supierior to McCain's plan. I think that everyone deserves health care and that it is a right, not a priveledge.

I think that we need to get out of Iraq and focus on Afghanistan. I believe in his 16 month re-deployment plan and think it is a responsible way to get out of there.

I am vehemently pro-chioce and so is OBama

The next president will be appointing at least 2 supreme court justices, and if McCain appoints them, the court will be almost completely conservative (as the 2 judges retireing are more liberal) and that would cause a very scary imbalance in the court that may even result in Roe V. Wade being overturned.

I think we need to make college more affordable, and I love Obama's plan to help pay for tuition in return for serviing you country or community.

There is more, but those are some highlights.

I am also ready for a fresh face, something new and different and inspiring. Yes, he makes me hopeful. Yes, he inspires me. People can make fun of that all they want, but it dosent make it any less true, or any less important.

I voted for McCain because he trusts people to make their own decisions with the money they earn instead of having the government take it and give it out to the people that the government thinks is more deserving.

In theory, Obama's plan is supposed to be 'better' for our family (ie: a tax break), but when the government raises taxes on rich people (like my husband's boss), they are more likely to raise their prices (which will hurt the poor and middle class) or lay off workers (which will hurt the poor and middle class).

I also think McCain is much more qualified in terms of experience and foreign policy than Obama.

Obama has lied a lot this campaign and I feel that he is making promises that he can't keep just to buy votes.

ETA: Also, I think it's important to balance the power and since we have a democrat congress, it would be better for our country if we had a different point of view in the white house. Otherwise, Obama is going to spend us into the ground.

Thanks! I'm glad you gave me real reasons instead of the whining stories

This thread may actually interest me.

I am more for the people controling thier lives other than the govt.

I am not really for roe vs. wade.

I do not think our wealth should be distributed. I believe that you mold your life and if you make the right choices you should not have to support those who made bad choices.

I am also a bit weary of all Obamas affiliation with the enemy...

McCain isnt perfect but in my eyes a better candidate than Obama.

Also I think that our President needs experience and that is something Obama doesnt have. He can talk and does great at speeches but am not sure if he gets elected into office he will be able to back that up.

I'm voting for Obama for most of the same reasons.

I'm actually not entirely against McCain (or wasn't in the beginning at least), but I think he made a very poor choice when he chose Palin as his running mate. He also turned me off with his mudslinging. I realize Obama's been slinging it, too, but I feel like he's just been doing it out of defense, rather than as an offensive plan (as McCain has).

I also feel like we need a fresh face in the office, and a turn around from the mistakes of the Bush Administration, and Republicans in general.

I want someone who is not going to mix religion (or personal values) with politics. I want someone who will do what they can to help the middle and lower classes, rather than focusing mainly on the rich.

I want good healthcare. Dev got it right - it's a RIGHT, not a privelidge.

As far as being pro-choice/pro-life. I think this is an irrelevant topic. I consider myself pro-choice, and think it should be legal, but I don't think it should take as much presedence as it has been. I have nothing against pro-lifers, but I think that they shouldn't judge a woman (or anyone) by the choices they make.
A complete stranger getting an abortion has absolutely no bearing on my life.

I myself was/am very torn in which candidate to choose. My personal life and my professional life need two very different outlooks. When I went to vote today, I did not vote for a presidential candidate. I only voted in the local elections.

My bleeding heart really wanted to vote Obama,I agree with much (not all) of what he stands for. However, I could not fill in that circle next to his name because the democrats are passing laws left and right that threaten my line of work.

I also couldn't fill in McCain's circle, I just do not feel that he will be open minded enough for my liking.

Think about it, Bush has tons of experience, even more where his father is concerned.

But he's a total dbag and sent us into a recession.

Too bad we're not technically in a recession.

Anyway, don't you worry, the president is all powerful, so when Obama gets into office, he will will the economy to do better and VOILA! It will be so.
